Thank You Rock Bottom

Dawn stopped by Rock Bottom Brewery tonight both before and after an event downtown and after mentioning MNBeer.com was treated to a few samples on the house. Dawn’s notes mention hefeweizen, pilsner and maibock (transcribed as “my bock” but she’s only been appreciating great brews for the past year or so) as specialties. I’ll have to pry more information out of her tomorrow. In any case, thanks for the free beer. Breweries, brewpubs and bars, please note that the folks involved from MNBeer (and their spouses, as it were) will gladly drink your beer at no cost to you!

Fresh news on ABR 2006

While we heard nearly the same news back in Feb 06, here is a fresh message from Dave Berg regarding Autumn Brew Review 2006.

Well, the wheels are spinning for the 2006 version of the Autumn Brew
Review. The date is Oct 7, 1-6 PM at Peavey Plaza.

We are *considering* having a special VIP tasting from 12-1 PM for those
interested in avoiding the crowds for a least an hour. Haven’t hammered
out the details yet, but I’ll keep you posted.

In addition, if anyone has any additional breweries they’d like to see
there, drop me a line. Keep in mind that they need to already be
distributing in MN.

Cheers!

Town Hall Double Beer Release Tonight

Why release one beer when you can release two? That’s just what Minneapolis Town Hall is doing tonight:

Hey All,
Looks like a double release next Wednesday. (6/7)
Summer is just about here and we are headed to “Blueberry Hill.” This is an American style wheat beer with the addition of natural blueberries. After that we are back on the India trail- our IWA (India Wheat Ale). I think you will enjoy this one…we stole a page from the hopping schedule of “1800” to make this beer. Stop in and try a pint next Wednesday. Release at 5:00pm
Cheers,
Mike

MN Recipe Book Project

Blatantly stolen from the St. Paul Homebrewers Club website:

Have your beers, meads, or ciders won at UMMO? Minnesota State Fair? AHA Nationals? Or at another local or national contest? Submit your winning recipes to the MN recipe book project!

At the end of last year, Gera Exire La Tour of the MhBA submitted a request and received a grant from BJCP to design a local (Minnesota) recipe book with content from the numerous quality brewers (you) that we have in this state.

This project will ideally consist of recipes from local brewers that have won either local or national awards. It will be arranged by each of the 28 BJCP categories and the final product will be a printed book which can be used for reference in your brewery.

Gera has requested SPHBC members to please email any winning recipe(s) you wish to share (with brewer information and a list of awards that the recipe has won) to beer.recipe.book@hotmail.com.

More information about this project and a sample recipe form can be found at
