Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

For those of you in Duluth…

…or those of you, like myself who wouldn’t mind being in Duluth right now…

Subject: Das Firkin Friday this Week

Firkin Friday returns this Friday with a real ale
classic……………Kolsch! Yes, those crazy guys at Lake Superior
Brewing
are at it again and this time have cask conditioned a firkin of their Kayak
Kolsch. This bubbling gusto will be available on a good ole traditional
German hand pump at Sir Benedict’s this Friday for happy hour.

Be sure to stop by with your favorite stein and give it a try.

Prost!

Summit On Cask at Town Hall August 5th

Cool. Minneapolis Town Hall will be pouring beer from Summit Brewing on cask on August 5th.

Mark your calendars…Saturday, August 5 we will feature two fine beers from Summit Brewing Company ON CASK! Those crazy brewers have been working on cask versions of some of their finest and thought you folks would be a great market to test the beers out on. We are very excited to offer Great Northern Porter and the limited release ESB on cask Saturday, August 5. Stop in and try some of Minnesota’s finest, then drop me a feedback email that I can forward to our friends at Summit Brewing Company.

Cheers,
Mike

Oh, and on a side note, I’ve been told that the 1800 IPA is once again gone…

MUDDY PIG 1/2 PRICE DEAL FROM KFAN

I couldn’t pass this one up, so once now that I’ve placed my order, I’ll share this one with you… KFAN has great gift certificate deal for The Muddy Pig in St. Paul. For $25 (plus a $4.50 handling fee), you can get a $50 gift certificate for a visit to The Muddy Pig. The only catch is that you can only use it on one visit (big deal… don’t drink alone…) and it expires in January. I’d say it’s a hell of a deal, especially considering that The Muddy Pig has such a great selection of beer.

Anyway, I’ll shut up now and give you the link.

Beer Good Bus Tour III UPDATE

“Bad” news and good news–

The bad news is that we will now be leaving Saint Paul 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. For those coming along, that means the bus rolls out of Saint Paul at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th.

The good news is that Don Brewington of Lake Superior Brewing Co. saw the posting for the trip and has graciously invited us to tour and taste at his microbrewery in Duluth! We’ll leave 30 minutes earlier so that we can stop at Lake Superior Brewing at 10:00, tour and taste until 10:45, then roll a few blocks up the street, arriving at Fitger’s just before 11:00. “Shoot–you mean we have to sample at ANOTHER brewery?!?”
Yessssssss! 🙂

Bring a friend or coworker and join us on the Beer Good Bus Tour III, touring the fall colors and alcohol producers of northern WI and MN. For those of you keeping track, that means we’ll hit 9 brewpubs, 1 microbrewery, and 1 meadery. Unless you’re at the GABF, why WOULDN’T you sign up? Send your $50 non-refundable deposit to John Longballa, 1211 Minnehaha Ave W, Saint Paul, 55104. The bus will be approximately $60 per person (depending on how many go). The hotel is $100 for double occupancy.

Thanks,
John
