Olde World Renaissance Fair: Interesting Beer and Wine… Geeks in Costume…

Lords and ladies… um… I’m not really the medieval type, but the Olde World Renaissance Fair sounds interesting if nothing for a cask of something special from Lake Superior and meads and wines from J Bird Winery. This Saturday and Sunday, Twig, Minnesota.

The Olde World Renaissance Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 9 – 10, 2007, from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm both days. Ale Stars may be interested to know that Lake Superior Brewing is the beer sponsor of the event, and will be serving our beer and root beer there. Among our beer offerings will be our Stout, Kolsch, a “brewer’s choice” and also “Brikenhar Ale” brewed specially for the event. There will be just one cask of this, so it may sell out on Saturday. We will also be serving meads and fruit wines from the J. Bird Winery from Cambridge, MN. This is one of Minnesota’s oldest wineries. Last year, they provided a traditional mead, an “Eqyptian mead” flavored with hibiscus, and some fruit wines.

Info at www.owrenaissancefaire.com. Tickets are $9.00 per day. $1 off for advance purchase, or $1 off at the door if you’re in medieval costume. More info on their website, along with maps and directions.
Last year’s event was a lot of fun, looks like even more entertainment this year.

Twin Cities Imbiber

I’d like to give a big, big welcome to a cool new project from MNBeer contributor, Truthbrew… Twin Cities Imbiber!

it is a FREE bi-monthly print and web magazine that is written for enthusiasts by enthusiasts. Our goal is to raise awareness on the amazing commercial beverage scene we have in the Twin Cities, to educate, portray the truth behind these drinks, and to disseminate news and events.

The magazine will soon be found on racks in quality retailers, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and more.  As we eagerly await the first issue (June/July 2007) to return from the printer, I invite you all to go to our website ( www.twincitiesimbiber.com) to download a full PDF (Acrobat) version of this issue.   Please share this link with any and everyone you feel would have interest in this publication. We openly welcome your feedback.

This project is 100% funded by advertising; I encourage you to support those who have advertised, as they have stepped up and supported a grass-roots effort to promote our favorite drinks.

While this magazine is about commercial beer and not homebrewing, I hope that many of you find value in it and hope to see contributions from those of you who are fanatics and aspiring writers.

Cheers and beers,

Jeffrey Halvorson
