Summit at the State Fair

The offical MN close to summer, the State Fair, is just around the corner. If you’ll be going, here’s one of the most important pieces of information you’ll need – where to find good beer.

It’s coming! Are you ready? Be sure to stop by the International Bazaar Stage presentedy by yours truly. There is a nifty little pergola tucked right in there serving Summit beer and gear-don’t miss it! The fair runs August 27-September 7, plenty of time to drink beer, overeat, and pet cows.

In case you were wondering exactly what a pergola was, here’s what Wikipedia has to say: A pergola is a garden feature forming a shaded walk or passageway of pillars that support cross beams and a sturdy open lattice, upon which woody vines are trained. As a type of gazebo, it may also be an extension of a building, as protection for an open terrace or a link between pavilions.

Lift Bridge @Common Roots Cafe

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to check out Common Roots Cafe, here’s a great one!

Come to the Common Roots garden behind their cafe and join us for the Food and Farm Days. Meet Todd Churchill, farmer and owner of Thousand Hills and Brad Glynn, brewer and owner of Lift Bridge Beer Company. There will be free samples of grass fed beef and beer, tours of the garden, activities for the kids and music in the garden. If you mention the Thousand Hills promotion and order a beef entree or burger, can get a $2 Lift Bridge. Come and enjoy a Farm Girl in the garden.

In addition to Farm Girl, they’ll also have Crosscut Pale Ale available.

Great Taste Documents Now Available

This week the uber-duber beer geek has been emerging in me as I’ve made repeated visits to the Madison Homebrewers & Tasters Guild website just waiting for the magical program to be posted. The map of the grounds, along with a listing of the brewers that will be there came out a couple days ago, but not until just a very short time ago were the program and real ale tent listings posted. Enjoy fellow beer lovers!

If you weren’t able to get tickets, or are just a bit of a voyeur, this year the Guild will have live video streaming from the festival.

Summit Kolsch at Great Taste & Four Firkins

If you’re lucky enough to have scored tickets for this weekend’s Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison, you’ll have the first chance to try Summit’s new kolsch, the first in the Unchained Series from Brewer Mike “the Miz” Miziorko.

For those of you not so fortunate, next week is the kick off of Summit’s new series in the Twin Cities.  Mike will be at Four Firkins sampling his creation.
