Beernews.org has the scoop on the latest Brau Beer, Old 56:
This info comes from Dustin Brau, CEO/Brewer of Brau Brothers Brewing: “Old 56 is a light beer we’ve brewed for the local area for years. It’s named after a fire truck on the Lucan Fire Dept that was in service since 1956. We are looking to bottle Old 56 soon and release it in a 12-pack. By soon, I’m looking sometime next month. Initially, it will only be available in Lucan and the surrounding region.” [ed note: Brau confirmed that this would not be available in 6-packs]
While at the Fair Sunday, I sought out two things… Shell’s Anniversary Series Roggenbier and Summit on a Stick. I found the first in Heritage Square. The latter was available at the International Bazaar, but by the time I arrived on Sunday, the sticks had sold out! I think I need to go back… solely for the stick (and maybe, just maybe, some other things on a stick). For $7.50 you get three 7oz pours of EPA, Horizon Red, and Oktoberfest, nestled in a stick shaped like a paddle (a mash paddle… yeah…).
Mark Stutrud will be on hand on Sept. 2 from 4-6pm and Sept. 3 from 1-3pm to talk and drink beer you and a bizillion other Minnesotan’s. Awesome.
…and here’s a shot from the stick factory in Jeannie’s basement
