Ginger Hop

According to Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl over at Minnesota Monthly, the people behind Chiang Mai Thai are set to open a new pan-asian restaurant in the Times space, across the street from Nye’s in Nordeast. More importantly, the beer selection is suposed to be good, featuring a “big craft-beer list (not unlike the one at St. Paul’s Muddy Pig).”

If this holds true, you won’t find me complaining. It appears as if the place is slated for a mid-September opening. Surely more information will be forthcoming… that is, of course, assuming that the beer selection is awesome.

Muddy Pig Belgian Beer Fest Seminar: Fermentable Love Fest

Domestic Belgians, Belgian Belgians, cheese and Corey.

“Fermentable Love Fest” with Corey Shovein of Hohenstein Distributors.  Now this sounds like a fun time.  Belgian beers are not confined to a single style nor are they confined to Belgium.  There are some American and Canadian brewers making incredible Belgian-style beers as well.  As Corey surveys the various styles he will provide samples from a Belgian brewer and a domestic brewer and include a cheese that pairs well with the style.  Count me in.

Seminars are $20 each or all three for $50.  Tickets will be available at The Pig around 5pm Friday, Sept. 4th. Due to high demand (all seminars sold out last year) we are unable to “hold” tickets for people so plan on stopping by The Pig sooner rather than later to purchase yours.

Muddy Pig Belgian Beer Fest Seminar: Why Belgium?

The Muddy Pig welcomes Lanny Hoff of Artisanal Imports to answer–or at least ponder–the question “Why Belgium?”

Why is Belgium a hotbed of brewing?  How and why did Belgian brewers develop such unique styles? And what better way to learn about the beers than to taste them? Lanny is one of our most popular speakers and knows way more about Belgian beers than he should.  You definitely want to skip out of work early to catch this one.
