Yuletide Tussle at The Four Firkins

Battle of the Beers IV: The Yuletide Tussle – Holiday Ales and Winter Warmers
The holidays; that period of food, family, frenzy, and fruitcake between Thanksgiving and New Years
Day that also signals the arrival of cold weather here in the North Country. But the holidays are also a time for holiday ales, big beers full of spice, spruce, toasty malt, and of course plenty of alcohol to thaw out the cold and help one through the family and frenzy. For your consideration and holiday enjoyment, an exhibition of festive fighting, a boozy battle royal in three rounds:

Round One: Walkin’ in a Winter Warmerland
Round Two: Christmas vs. Hanukah
Round Three: Zalig Kerstfeest or Merry Christmas from Belgium

The lines have been drawn for an epic holiday battle of the beers.  Three festive styles and six festive beers; which will emerge victorious from the crucible of Firkin Forum?  You will be the judge.  Let the Yuletide Tussle begin!

Monday December 1st 6:30pm Class is $15

Class limited to 35 people.

Lanny dropped me a line to let us know that next Tuesday, The Bulldog (Lyndale) will be having another Half Price night on all Artisanal Imports beer. To sweeten the deal, Lanny mentioned that several items that normally are not on draft will be for that night. Drinking good beer on a budget? Roll on over to the Bulldog on the 25th!

McK’s Scottish Ale

Granite City mug club members – be sure to roll over to your local GC and bring a friend for the tapping party for McK’s Scottish Ale. Not surprisingly, this beer is named for GC’s original brewer, Bob McKenzie.

Dec. 1st, 5pm – 9pm. No cover. Complimentary cheese, fruit, crackers, shepherd’s pie and bangers and mash.

Sounds like a good Monday night happy hour. I’ll likely be tipping a McK’s in SLP (I work across the street…) if anyone wants to roll by and say hello.
