Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

Limited Release Beer

Have you checked out the web show, Limited Release? It’s a web series put together by a couple of Minnesotans (with some ex-pat help) dedicated to “the hunt for great rare beers and the events surrounding their release. Thus far, they have episodes on Three Floyds’ Dark Lord Day as well as  a Kate the Great event at Portsmouth Brewery with Surly Darkness Day in the works. Definitely worth checking out!

…and Summit Unchained #11 is…

Old 152. We don’t know a lot about this beer quite yet, though we do know that Summit brewer Eric Harper is tackling this one. According to the stats, it will fall just short of 6% abv.

Old 152, I presume, refers to the now-gone Minnesota State Highway 152, that once stretched between Minneapolis and St. Cloud.

More details as they become available.

Tycoons Alehouse & Eatery wins Adaptavie Reuse Award

A huge congratulations to our friends in Duluth. Tycoons Alehouse & Eatery received an “Adaptive Reuse” Award from the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota for their work with their beautiful historic building, the old Duluth City Hall. The award acknowledges “excellence in restoring a flailing structure in a creative and productive way that accords with the needs and desires of the community.”

Tycoons is beautiful and as a bit of a history nerd, I was excited to see things happen in in the Old City Hall space. Awesome. Go visit. Congrats guys!
