Mort Noir Tapping at Rock Bottom

Stop in at Rock Bottom for the tapping of their Mort Noir, a Belgian Dark Strong Ale.

It got its name (schoolboy French for “Black Death”) from the reaction to the color and strength of the brew as it left the Brew Kettle. A dark malty Belgian style ale, matured over raisins. The beer has moderate fruit flavors with lots of malt character. Ultimately this beer will be served in bottles but we like it so much we thought we should give you a sneak peek. Stop by for a glass of this outstanding beer.

Beer Dinner Tonight at Caribe

There are still spots open for tonight’s amazing beer dinner at Caribe in St Paul, featuring a five-course meal prepared by Chef Tony Panelli. What makes this event extra-special is that Certified Cicerone and Midwest Sales Manager of Artisanal Imports Adam Schulte (formerly of the Ale Jail and recently-relocated to Chicago), will be on hand to guide you through the imported beers he’s chosen especially for the meal.

What are the beers? Well it’s Artisanal Imports so only the finest (in this case) Belgian & Dutch delicacies…..Deus, St-Feuillien, La Trappe Dubbel, Triple Karmeliet, Pauwel Kwak, Urthel Samaranth and maybe a special surprise we’re told. And the menu is quite impressive too 🙂

View the full menu and other essential details here. Seats are $78. No reservation is necessary.

Heritage Thursday Tasting: Lagunitas

Drink up with Heritage! This week they’ll be sampling beer from Lagunitas. If only I could make it! As luck would have it, I’ll be in Petaluma in October, though. You? You’re not coming with me. So head over to Heritage between 5 and 7 on Thursday.

We’re being taken over by Petaluma, CA’s Lagunitas Brewing Co this week and couldn’t be happier.  This Thursday the 22nd from 5-7PM we’ll have their North Central MidWestern CornBelt Regional Vice Manager for Quality Control Sampling and Supply-Vectored Beverage Implementation Sean McHugh in-store to pour samples of their newest release Bavarian-Styled Doppel Weizen, plus a few others. This new release is a collaboration with the Freistaat Bayern Brothers, founders of ROLEC, a German based company that built the Lagunitas brewhouse for their current expansion (they’ve also done equipment at Victory Brewing, Brooklyn, Magic Hat, Firestone Walker, Stone, North Coast & more).

And while we’re at it, we’re gonna make our 20% off Bomber of the Week is their Lucky 13 alt.

Beer School This Week

Join Lanny Hoff of Artisanal Imports at Minneapolis Beer School. He’ll be talking about Belgian beer and beer styles, the charming story of Kolsch and pouring four great beers. 5:30PM, Wednesday, Sep. 21 at Republic in Four Corners (across from Town Hall Brewery).
