Mark Your Calendars! BrauFest is June 3 and 4

Hey Everyone,

It’s that time of year again, as we prepare for BrauFest in early June here in Lucan! As always, there will be camping right on brewery grounds friday and saturday night. Homebrewers are encouraged to bring beer to pass around the campfire on friday night!

Saturday we’ll have live music here at the brewery, with an open house and brewery tours throughout the day. Cannery Row and Smitty & the Sound will play all afternoon so stop out and check out the hopyard while you’re here. Who knows, maybe the weather will actually be good this year!

The BrauHaus will again host a street dance on Saturday Night featuring Roxbury Drive – as always, it will be a blast. Per Lucan City Ordinance, there will be beer wagons everywhere, including the city park and BrauHaus.

On Friday, May 13th, we’ll kick off Minnesota Craft Beer Week at Stanley’s in northeast Minneapolis at 6pm with a firkin of oak-aged Forgotten Flem! Looking forward to this, see you there!

Also, on May 20th I will be speaking at the U of M’s 9th annual Beer Tasting. This is a great event, and this is a fantastic opportunity to check out the Campus Club as it is open to non-members. Details here.

Speaking of MN Craft Beer Week, there are many great retailers that work hard to promote Minnesota-made Beer; two are mentioned previously. Be sure to support these great establishments, and ask for Minnesota Beer Wherever you go!!

Quad Tapping (and Bryon’s final) at Rock Bottom

You’ve probably already heard that Bryon Tonnis will be leaving Rock Bottom shortly. Wish him well in his new endeavours and savor his quadruple Barrel Aged Belgian beers.

The four beers are from the Belgian Trifecta Series, plus Fantome Wheat, that have spent six months aging in French Oak wine barrels.

As is par for the course, be there at 6:00 and the first pint is on the house.

Mikkeller Tasting at Heritage

Mikkeller. Heritage. Tonight. Drink up, buttercup!

We’ve all seen the staggering array of Mikkeller beers on store shelves, but how many of them do we ever get to try? Well, now is your chance to see why these beers are at all the top beer stores and worth every penny you pay. We’ll be pouring samples of Beer Hop Breakfast, 10, Hoppy Easter and Chipotle Porter, all of these will also be 10% off during the tasting.

Mikkeller was started by two young Denmark home brewers, who in a few years went from hobby brewing at home in the kitchen to national and international recognition. Since August 2007 Mikkel Borg Bjergsø has run Mikkeller on his own and is a gipsy-brewer, brewing at different breweries in Denmark, around Europe and the United States. Their success is partly due to their focus on creating challenging beers that test boundaries and partly putting quality before quantity. In other words, uncompromising beer.

Our Thursday night tastings run from 5-7PM.
