Metro magazine likes us too…

Yup. Watch our egos soar… We were chosen as part of Metro Magazine’s “Best Homegrown Blogs” in the January issue.

They’ve also got a nice little feature in their restaurant guide called “Beer-Drinking Adventures” that gives a nod to Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery, Great Waters Brewing Company, Acadia Cafe, Barley John’s Brewpub and Fitger’s Brewhouse. Check it out if you get a chance.

Deep Seven IPA & Prairie Porter now on tap at McCann’s

Chris made quick work of getting his beer line-up together at McCann’s and we’re happy to see that he now has a full line-up. Deep Seven:

One for the lovers of hoppy craft brews. Seven deep layers of flavor consisting of three English malts and four hop varieties (2 U.S./2 English). Generous portions of hops are added to the brew kettle and hops are also added to the fermenter for a wonderful hop aroma.

Prairie Porter:

Brewed with four English malts and two English hop varieties giving this beer a dark, rich, roasty background with light smokey undertones. Bittersweet chocolate flavor develops in the finish. A very nice ale for the winter time to enjoy with friends.

It sounds as if there have been a few bumps in the road with cleaner concentration in the glass washers, but hopefully all is well in St. Cloud. I’m about ready for a field trip!

Brew52

Brew52.com, a new website described as “an online beer tasting festival” caught my attention yesterday after Jeff sent me the link and Rett followed-up with a message on MySpace. Aside from the nice design, what really separates this site from your typical beer review sites is the fact that they’re keeping it local:

Minnesota has a ton of great breweries and participants of Brew52 will sample many of them during the 52 weeks of 2008. In addition to sampling beer in the comfort of their homes, participants meet up for the occasional beer-sampling at local brew pubs. These events will be announced in the upcoming weeks and anyone is welcome to join.

This sounds like fun… another local alternative to at least some facets of BeerAdvocate and RateBeer.
