Hey All,
Thanks to all of you that attended Winterfest, I hope you enjoyed the event.

So, swing on by and try a pint of Banana Bread Beer from 5-6pm for just $2 per. Notice to short???? Don’t worry – swing in on Wednesday during pick a pint night (again just $2 for house beers from 5-6pm).
Cheers,

Winterfest Countdown

Just think, tomorrow night at this time some of you will be finding your way to a cab or bus or Great Waters, basking in the joy of what was Winterfest.

In case you’ve been jonesing for some more info, I’ll give you more beers for Winterfest. Without further delay…

Brau Brothers Brewing Co. will perhaps be bringing a dubbel. Go easy on them if they don’t – starting a production brewery, even with the brewpub background, is quite an endeavour. If the brothers don’t bring the dubbel, I promise they’ll bring a Scotch ale.

Collin tells me that Barley John’s will be bringing an “Extra Special Lager,” a 7.3% abv pre-prohibition style lager that’s been hanging out in their new dedicated lagering tank. “Brewed using Czech Saaz hops and our special Lager yeast blend, this high gravity winter pilsner was made to offset the  traditional Winter Warmers while still delivering the same end result – the Extra Special.”

Sunday Night Supper at Barley John’s

Yum. Another Sunday Night Supper at Barley John’s. Enjoy.

This Sunday (1/21/07) we will be open for another Sunday Night Supper between 4:00pm and 8:00 pm. Our Sunday Night Suppers incorporate classic homestyle food in a relaxed preset menu format. Supper will include a Waldorf Salad to start and your choice of: Chicken Pot Pie, Stuffed Shells with Vegetables or Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables – and of course there will be a Dessert! The regular menu will not be available, but all of our taps will be! A reminder that we are not able to fill growlers on Sundays. Call for details or reservations: 651-636-4670 – $12

While we are on the subject of Dinners – Barley John’s will be featuring a special/romantic Valentines Dinner (2/14/07). The menu is still in the works, but from experience it will be spectacular. Our V-Day dinners are typically 4-5 courses with specific wine or beer pairings with each course – we even dim the lights a little extra for a more intimate setting! We will be sending out an email with the official menu and price within the next week or so. We are now taking reservations: 651-636-4670 for those that don’t need to know the details!

New Fitger’s Beer: Misty Mountain IPA

Greetings,

Today the Brewhouse will release:
Misty Mountain IPA 7.6%.

Misty is an English style IPA done North Shore style. We use all English malt and hops. The English hops are all low bitterness aroma hops. Fuggle, East Kent Goldings, and Styrian Goldings. The low alpha of these hops require us to use about 5x more then would go into El Nino. The result is a smooth hop flavor with low bitterness, balanced with the alcohol and malt of this strong IPA. We then nitrogenize this ale to increase the smooth creamy texture and flavor even more. Of the 10 IPA’s we brew this is one of our favorites.

Cask this week: Witchtree ESB
