Pracna on Main and Deschutes

Pracna on Main and Deschutes are celebrating the holidays all throughout the month of December. Each Friday (excluding Christmas Eve) they will tap a specialty keg from Deschutes.

Dec 3: Nitro Obsidian Stout
Dec 10: The Dissident
Dec 17: The Abyss
Dec 31: Jubel 2010

From Pracna on Main:

Throughout the month we will also have chances to enter to win a Deschutes prize pack that will be given away on New Year’s Eve. Every time you purchase a Deschutes beer (any time of day, including Happy Hour), you will receive a punch on a punch card that your server or bartender will provide. After 5 punches, you’ll get a free beer and that card will be put into the drawing for the prize pack. The more Deschutes you drink the more chances you get for the sweet prize pack we’re putting together. The prize pack will include some very limited Deschutes bottles as well as some other fun stuff.

New Years Eve we will send off 2010 in style by tapping a keg of the Jubel 2010 and having the drawing for the prize pack. You do need to be present to win and the drawing will be held between 8-10pm. And don’t forget…happy hour starts at 9pm and goes until 11pm.

Any questions give us a call at Pracna, 612-379-3200.

Beer Scavenger Hunt

Corey at Hohenstein’s continues to rock the beer scene…this time with a Mini Beer Scavenger Hunt! Can you handle it?!

General Rules

  • You will need to find the 6 locations via clues. 3 locations on Thursday Sept 30, 3 locations on Friday Oct 1st. (keeps everybody responsible)
  • When you get to the bar you have to PURCHASE the right beer from the clue you are given. KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS! These are your proof you bought the right beer.
  • If you are at the right location you will get your next clue for the next establishment and beer.  Remember keep your receipts!
  • The first person to show me (Corey Shovein) your six receipts at the Aster Café Breakfast on Saturday Oct 2 between 8 and 9:15 am will be the Grand Prize winner. Plus I will buy you your breakfast.
  • There will also be a second place finisher and a third place finisher.

First Prize is one case of beer from each of the breweries (5 cases total), some beer swag and breakfast on me at the Aster on Saturday.

Second Prize is a bag of swag and beer tasting hosted by Corey Shovein from Hohenstein’s for you and a group of 4 your friends at a location determined by me (Corey).

Third Prize is a bag of swag and the address to the person’s house who won the 5 cs of beer. (kidding of course)

Clues

Your first location is listed in a pamphlet we posted on MN Beer. From here you will have to purchase the right beer and receive your next destination and beer clue.

Bonus Hunt at Autumn Brew Review-

Figure out which booth and beer this clue corresponds to and win a prize. 1 prize only so it is for the first person who guesses correctly wins.

Brewery Clue: Two of the owners from this brewery starred in a cable access show called Beer Talk. The mother of one of the owners  has done a lot of the artwork for this brewery. Their first beer was called Whistle Pig Red Ale.

Beer Clue: It’s not a new beer from this brewery just a new name. Slainte Mhath!

Enjoy Responsibly and have a great time,

Corey

Firkin Video Contest

Might be time to bust out all that clay you have laying around from the 6th grade.

Want to win a $200 gift card for the Four Firkins? Like playing with video? Then this is for you…

After seeing how creative you all are with video commercials for Surly and other beer related businesses around town we thought it’d be fun to see what you could come up with for the Firkins.

Get together with a group of your friends and make a video “commercial” for The Four Firkins. Get as crazy as you like: animation, stop-action clay figures, kittens, real video, the possibilities are endless!

It should be no more than 2 minutes long but can be as short as 30 seconds if you like.

While filming inside the store is totally cool with us it would have to be done with a handheld camera only to avoid getting in the way of other people (I.E. no tripods or light umbrellas!)

Firkins employees can not be featured in the video, although animated likenesses of us might be fun..

Oh, one more thought: as much as we appreciate George Carlin style cursing, if we are going to display your video on our websites it might be best if there were no “F” bombs…

Submissions in by September 30th 2010. The winning video will be announced on October 17th and linked to our main Website, Cloud Profile and Face Book. Send you submissions or links to them to alvey@thefourfirkins.com

Grand prize: $200 gift card to the Four Firkins: That’s a lot of good beer!

Runner up prize: One bottle each of Surly Darkness (2009), Smoke, and Four.

We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Beer Dabbler Home Brew Contest

The Beer Dabbler folks continue to add components to the Highland Fest Beer Dabbler, first with a series of classes, and now with a home brew contest.

The most important part of your entry is of course your beer, which must be dropped off between 1:00 and 3:30 pm on July 17th. For all the rest of the details, click here.
