Schell’s Bock Fest

Schell’s is hosting their 24th Annual Bock Fest on 2/13 (11-4:30).  The event is held on the brewery grounds and will be outside, so be sure to bring your own firewood and 50 gallon drum to keep warm.  Anecdotally, the event is a helluva good time, but crowded.

On a related note, I received a e-mail stating that The Herkimer is going to be running two buses to Bock Fest again this year.  I’ve been told that they do a fine job.  $60 per person gets you breakfast at The Herkimer starting at 7:30 (but not entry into Bock Fest – that is a separate $5 fee).  The buses depart at 8:30.  Space is limited.  Sign-up at the bar.

Widmer Deadlift IIPA hits MN First…

Widmer’s latest offering, Deadlift Imperial IPA is coming to town soon. The cool thing is that the Twin Cities will be
tapping the first kegs in the country over the next week. The brand is not scheduled to rollout to the rest of the country until early February. The Widmer Brothers have developed a great appreciation for the craft beer culture here in the Twin Cities and worked with the gang at Capitol Beverage to have the beer available for The Festival of Hops at The Muddy Pig this week. Buster’s on 28th, Stub & Herbs and The Happy Gnome will also be tapping their kegs over the next week!

Cork & Cask Expanded Beer Selection

Marty from St. Cloud dropped us a line to let us know that The Cork & Cask in St. Cloud (located at the intersection of MN HWY-23 and I-94, inside “The Grande Depot”) is expanding their beer selection at the request of thirsty craft beer fans in the St. Cloud area. They’ve added a number of great beers, many of which have never been sold in St. Cloud, including Surly Furious, Bender & Coffee Bender as well as some great beers from Founder’s, Victory, Ommegang, New Holland, Two Brothers, Lagunitas, Meantime and more. Check them out.
