Surly Goings On

A couple notable items from the world of Surly:
1) DWITT (aka David Witt) has been chosen to design the artwork for Darkness in 2009. Click here to check out his work.

2) The BIG, new tanks have arrived and been installed. Take a look at these pics!

The cap, covering the hole that had to be cut into the roof to accomodate the tanks, is removed.

Goose Island Events

There are a few of ’em, so let’s get down to biznich…

1. Groveland Tap will have the Goose Island Reserve series available in limited quanties on Tuesday, June 16th at 6:00pm. Head over to St. Paul for Bourbon County Stout, Nightstalker, Imperial IPA and Demolition.

2. Eagle St. Grille will be hosting a Goose Island Summertime Kickoff featuring $3.50 pints of Goose Island Summertime Kolsch on Wednesday June 17th from 6pm – ?  Enjoy some pints on the deck!

3. Nomad World Pub will be hosting a Goose Island Reserve Night featuring $5 8oz. pours of Night Stalker on Thursday, June 18th starting at 7pm. Night Stalker is now ranked #31 on Beer Advocate’s ‘Top Beers On The Planet’ list and rising.  This will be one of your last chances to get Night Stalker before it is gone until 2010.

4. On Thursday, June 25 beginning at 6pm,  Restaurant Max and Goose Island Beer are hosting a reception and five course, beer dinner for $45 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).

Flat Earth Tasting at Four Firkins

Has is been a while since you’ve had some Flat Earth brews? Do you live on the western side of the metro and getting over to the brewery isn’t the easiest of drives? Do you need a reason to enjoy some fine beer on a Monday night?

Home Brewing Presentation & Beer Tasting

Join the Washington County Historical Society for our second annual beer tasting at the Hay Lake Museum Complex in Scandia, Minnesota. A member of the St. Croix River Valley Home Brewers Association will present on home brewing at 4:00 p.m. The presentation will be followed by a beer tasting from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The presentation is free, the beer tasting is $10. The event is open to the public.

Surly Tour Availability

If you haven’t yet toured Surly’s facility and are interested in doing so now might be your chance. As of about 2 pm today (Sunday), their website is showing that there are openings for the Friday, July 3 tour. I suspect this tour will fill up quickly so don’t drag your feet. What a great way to kick off the holiday weekend!
