Bryan is looking to find the Mexican import Bohemia in the SW suburbs. This one isn’t on my radar, so if anyone knows where to find it, post it in the comments.
Thanks…

So I’m one of the guys that Ryan and Jeff were kind enough to let into their inner-circle of top secret sources for beer happenings around the Twin Cities. I like good beer and want to see more of it in Minnesota. I’ll do my best to live up to the high quality you all have to come to expect from MnBeer.com…
With that, there was an interesting article in the PiPress Tuesday about legislative battles over beer laws in Wisconsin. Sure, this is MNBeer.com, but it’s always good to keep tabs on our beer-swilling neighbors to the east. Maybe we can learn something from them.
Check it out here.
Good news from St. Cloud – McCann’s Food and Brew will be occupying and remodeling the recently-closed O’Hara’s space. Chris Laumb, O’Hara’s brewer, will once again be brewing at 33rd & 3rd in St. Cloud. We’re happy to hear that Chris is once again gainfully employed in the Minnesota brewing scene. He’ll be brewing all new beers at McCann’s, so if you’ve got a suggestion or an old favorite, feel free to post it here. If things stay on track, look for a fall opening. Congrats to McCann’s and to Chris! Brew on!
…assuming you’re not a lazy-ass, a jerk or a connaisseur of macro-swill. We’re looking to add one or two more writers to keep on top of beer events, news and tappings across the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota. Opinions are fine, though we like to leave them at the door with regards to the site – the beer should speak for it self. HTML knowledge is nice, but not absolutely necessary. Decent spelling and grammar is appreciated as well. The benefits are minimal, though we’ll hook you up with one of our shirts and depending on the brewery, bar(tender) or brewpub, you may just drink for free on occasion. Drop me a line (ryan AT mnbeer.com) if you think you’re up to the challenge.
Thanks,
Ryan
Dammit… more good beer to drink… Lake Superior Special Ale is one of my favorite LS offerings and it’s cask-conditioned as well. Yum. Happy Gnome. Anybody planning on attending? I’ll be at this until about 9, but might just want to relax and have a beer after all of my hard work photographing canoers and kayakers at Lake Calhoun…
Starting at 7pm, we will be tapping two firkins of Lake Superior Special Ale on Thursday July 26th. Lake Superior made one firkin with Kent Golding hops, and one with Cascade hops.
We will be featuring Jolly Pumpkin Artisinal Ales for the month of August. We will kick-off the month by tapping a firkin of Calabaza Blanca on Thursday Aug 2nd. Jolly Pumpkin is an ultra small brewery in Dexter, MI. All of their beers are aged in oak barrels and then bottle conditioned. For more info about Jolly Pumpkin Brewing visit their website at www.jollypumpkin.com.
