Twin Cities Imbiber #3 online

Twin Cities Imbiber #3Yes, the spring issue of Twin Cities Imbiber is online now. Look for it in print shortly. Features include pieces on Rush River Brewing Co., a beer history piece, a spotlight on Dennis Brothers Liquors, brewing coffee at home, Ciroc Vodka and more.

Some good local news as well… here’s a tidbit… Summit Hefe Weizen will be returning to Minnesota this summer. It makes sense – after all, we can’t let those Chicago folks

Stub & Herb’s beer tasting

Jon’s been talking about this for a bit, so it’s good to see it happening. With any luck, perhaps I’ll see you at the Stub & Herb’s next Wednesday.

Stub and Herb’s is kicking off it’s first of a series of monthly beer tastings. The event takes place on Wednesday Feb. 27 at 7:PM.

Stub’s will welcome Roger Lind of Sierra Nevada to talk briefly about Sierra and sample some of their fine brews (including this years Bigfoot on draft). We will then hold a brief discussion of a few beer styles and sample out what we have to offer at Stub’s.

The event is free to attend. Light appetizers will be complementary. Tasting glasses will be sold for $5 and will allow you access to all beers being sampled.

Thanks. I hope to see you there.

Summit Sparkling Ale

…no it’s not a new beer. It’s an old beer… a 1989 bronze medal winner at GABF in the Blond/Golden Ale category. I also ran across a mention of Summit Christmas Ale (the name that likely preceded Summit Winter Ale) in an 80s-era beer book at Half Price Books. I occasionally stop into the store during lunch breaks to check for copies of the Classic Beer Styles books.

Anyway, it’s a slow news day. Discuss. Did you ever drink this beer? What did you think?
