Here’s a nice little piece on Brau Brothers Brewing in the New Ulm Journal.
The writer spoke with me for a bit. Watch, friends, as I butcher the English language and brewing history!

In case any of you are unsure about how to actually visit a brewery or how to comport yourselves while there, this helpful guide from wikihow provides some pointers. *sigh* One major flaw identified thus far, at least for MN visitors, is the suggestion that one buy several cases of beer if one would like to continue tasting at home. Be sure to “exit the brewery in an orderly fashion!”
There’s a nice piece on Busters on 28th in the Strib. Enjoy. Here’s the line I like…
After finding success with Buster’s, [Nick] Miller said he’s hoping to open two more beer bars this summer.
…uh, Nick… I like SLP for your next location. I could use a great beer bar to go with the great beer store coming my way…
Mark over at The Muddy Pig sent out the following email yesterday.
Hi All, lots going on at The Muddy Pig.
Equinox Beer Sale. Some beers are just better in 750ml bottles than in smaller bottles or even on tap. In fact we love them so much that we keep buying them even though we don’t have room for them all. We need to clear some out to make room for the new beers so we’re having a sale. Join us this Thursday, March 20 to celebrate the vernal equinox with big bottles of beer at fire sale prices. Quantities are limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
Flat Earth Turns 1. Join us next Monday, March 24 to celebrate Flat Earth Brewing’s first birthday. We’ll have 4 Flat Earth beers on tap along with a couple of surprises and Jeff Williamson (Mr. Flat Earth himself) will be on hand to talk beer. The party starts at 5:00. Oh, and all Flat Earth beers will be just $3.
Bell‘s Oberon Release Party. You know it’s spring when Oberon arrives. The Muddy Pig will be hosting the St. Paul release party for Oberon on Tuesday, March 25 starting at 6:00. Enjoy pints of Oberon for just $3. We’ll also be raffling off Bell’s goodies from 6-8 so plan on not getting much done at work next week.
I think that’s enough for now. Mark
A friend who knows my love of beer handed me the most recent edition of Edible Twin Cities with the caveat, “You probably know most of the stuff in this article, but it’s still pretty interesting.” Indeed, I did, and indeed it was. The article gives an overview of the beer scene in Minnesota, brewing 101 and other resources to check out. While the full article isn’t on-line, they site does feature a web-only preview.
