Finnegans Looking for Volunteers for US Pond Hockey

Hockey is a very Minnesota sport and even more so when it’s played outside on our many ponds/lakes. Later this month, January 22-24 to be exact, the 5th Annual US Pond Hockey Championships will take place at Lake Nokomis and Finnegans is looking for 40+ volunteers to help out with operations and refereeing.

In appreciation of the volunteers Finnegans has pledged to provide, the US Pond Hockey Championships will make a donation to the Finnegans Community Fund. Click here to sign up as a volunteer.

Vine Park Contest

The folks over at Vine Park have decided to give away a free batch of beer or wine (winner’s choice) in their 1st Annual Winter Vacation Photo Contest.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a winter vacation planned just yet. You have until April 1st to submit your entry/entries. If your idea of winter vacation is more of the cold and snow, fine. If you prefer to spend your winter vacation sunning yourself on the beach, that’ll work, too.

Now for the three simple rules.
#1 Vine Park gets to pick the winner.
#2 The photo must somehow include the Vine Park logo. This could be accomplished by utilizing a piece of Vine Park swag, perhaps a sand drawing, or maybe you want to go the permanent route and get their logo inked on yourself. Use your thinking cap and you can probably come up with some way to incorporate the logo and communicate the idea of having fun.
#3 Vine Park gets the rights to all entries.

The Last Holiday Turkey

Nope, we haven’t slipped into a time warp, transporting us back to pre-holiday land. Rather, Fulton Beer and Bryant-Lake Bowl have teamed up to offer you, beer lovers, a great time this coming Sunday while helping recognize and reduce area hunger.

During the holiday season, we try to take the time to recognize that we’re very fortunate to have warm homes, cold beer, and enough food to get our fill. That said, not everyone is so fortunate. In recognition of this, Fulton & Bryant-Lake Bowl were inspired to hold an event called The Last Holiday Turkey.

The Last Holiday Turkey aims to raise money and awareness of hunger issues in our community. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf. Admission is $10.00 per person, which includes the cost of bowling and shoe rental, a pint of Fulton’s Sweet Child of Vine IPA, food, and a token for future bowling at Bryant-Lake Bowl. Additionally, proceeds from sales of a special event T-shirt and Fulton merchandise will also benefit the food shelf. If you prefer not to bowl or a more tangible donation is your style, you can help by bringing canned food items to the door.

Registration is required. Please visit http://fultonbeer.com/zencart to sign up. Or, you can register in person at Bryant-Lake Bowl.
