Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

Happy Birthday to The Ale Jail and The Wine Thief! They’ll be celebrating the second year of The Ale Jail and the seventh Year of The Wine Thief with a party and a half! Stop by the store on Friday, Sept. 14th from 4-7pm to help celebrate!

They’ll have representatives from 20+ breweries and 9 wine distributors, all pouring great samples in the back parking lot. The Blue Door Pub will be on site selling burgers as well. If you’re not 21, don’t even think about showing up (unless, perhaps, you’re in a baby Bjorn…)

Schell Snowstorm 2012: Bière de Noël

Yeah, so it’s probably too hot outside to make a joke about an impending snowstorm, right?

Would you like to hear about a Snowstorm? Schell’s is planning one for November 1st, 2012… specifically a Bière de Noël!

This year’s Snowstorm is modeled after beers traditionally brewed in France for the holiday season. According to my not so top secret sources:

Schell Bière de Noël displays a highly aromatic nose:  malty with a good dash of yeast esters (peppery, spicy, and citrusy).  On the palate, the yeast influence is once again evident, with notes of white pepper and citrus.  In the background, a herbal hop can be found.  Despite the dryness of the beer, it displays an incredibly silky mouthfeel.

Malts:
French Pils
2 Row
Munich
Wheat
French Special Aromatic
Caramunich
Midnight Wheat

Hops:
Nugget

 Yeast:
French Ale yeast
