A number of years ago, when the thought of an actual physical brewery in Stillwater was only in the planning stages, Steve (perhaps with the aid of a few beers) described this event to a T. Go figure. In any case, as fall comes upon us, Lift Bridge‘s Pickin’ and Grinnin’ is also upon us.
On Friday, September 7th from 5-8pm you can help lend a hand at the brewery by helping to pick hops off the bines and dump them straight into the this year’s Harvestor, Lift Bridge’s fresh hop brew. You’ll be picking locally-grown hops from Forest Lake’s Hippity Hops Farms. Live music and plenty of beer as well. The event itself is free, but you still need to register with their online ticket system.
From 9-midnight, $8 (advanced) or $10 (at the door) gets you your first beer and music from Pat McCurdy. 21+
This should be a great time. I’d recommend buying tickets in advanced as last year’s event sold out.
This year’s Oktoberfest Duluth takes place within the Tycoons Alehouse, Fitger’s Brewhouse & Burrito Union family of restaurants with special events at Tycoons on Sept. 21st & 22nd. We’ll have more information in the coming weeks, but for the moment, suffice to say that if things like sauerkraut eating, boot drinking & stein holding appeal to you, you might wanna’ show up. If not, perhaps beer pong, hammerschlagen, beer prizes, etc. might be your thing?
This year’s music will be by Chmeilewski Funtime Band, International Main Street Polka Band and Adam and the Jolly Jammers.
Head on over to Grumpy’s NE tonight and get your Indeed on! They’ll have all 3 of Indeeds beers on tap, a firkin of something special and half-price Minnesota made beers from 5-9 tonight. Did I mention I love Grumpy’s NE? Tony & Erich are behind the bar tonight, so you’re in good hands!
Next week a new brewery pushed Indeed out of the “newest brewery in the Twin Cities slot. Pour Decisions Brewing Company will debut at the Minnesota State Fair, making them the very first Minnesota brewery to launch at the State Fair. Pretty cool. You’ll be able to check out Pubstitute, a dark Scottish session ale at the Ballpark Cafe starting on August 23rd. It comes as no surprise, but this beer was a previous blue-ribbon winner at the state fair homebrew competition. Read on for details.
Congrats to Pour Decisions!
