Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

Cork and Cask Events

Thanks to Marty for the info…

Heads up to those of you going to be up in the St. Cloud Area in the next couple of weekends there’s going to be some great events at The Cork and Cask. On Friday (Dec 11th), a rep from Cold Spring Brewery will be pouring Old Johnnie Ale, Moonlight Pale Ale and John Henry from about 3-6 to show off the new 12 packs of bottles those beers will be coming in. Also, next Saturday (Dec 18) we’ll be sampling Belgian beers pretty much ALL DAY, though the most variety will be out around 3-6 pm. Not sure what I’ll have open but Troubadour Obscura, Petrus Golden Tripel, and Monk’s Cafe will I’m sure be in the mix. The Cork and Cask is located at the intersection of Highway 23 and I-94 in St. Cloud, about an hour from Maple Grove.

Upper Mississippi Mash-out Details

Homebrewers take note! Here’s the text of a note on the upcoming Upper Mississippi Mash-out. Aa lot of effort is put forth by local homebrewers to make this a great homebrew competition.

Registration for the 2010 Upper Mississippi Mash-out will open on December 28th and run until January 18th 2010.  There is still time to brew your award winning batch for this annual event.   Last year we took in 869 entries from 259 different brewers in 33 states.  Thanks to our generous sponsors over the years Mash-out has been able to provide a fabulous prize to every winner in each category along with a hand-made wooden chalice for the best-in-show winners for beer, mead, and cider.

The Mash-Out is the opening event in the High Plains Brewer of the Year Award 2010, the Midwest Brewer of the Year Award 2010 and the MCAB 2011.

Further details can be found at http://www.mashout.org/.

Entries accepted – December 28th 2009-January 18th 2010
