Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

Summit Beer Movie Contest

Summit On April 17th, Summit Brewing Company will start accepting entries for the first ever Summit Beer Movie Contest. The contest asks Minnesotans to make a short film, 5 minutes or less, that includes a Summit beer product placement. Since the brewery’s start back in 1986, Summit has supported the vibrant creative community of Minnesota through sponsorships and donations. Now is the chance for that creativity to converge with the art of craft beer in the form of a Summit beer movie.

“We want to see the creativity that our beer drinkers have hidden within them. This is not just a call for a beer commercial-we really want to see what people can come up with, whether they be a Summit beer drinker professing their love or a budding filmmaker with a story to tell,” said Mark Stutrud, CEO and founder of Summit Brewing Company.

townhall.jpgI’ve been in the mood for a good hefe – I had one at The Brewhouse on Sunday, but I’m itching for more. Thankfully, Town Hall came through and will be tapping their hefeweizen on Monday, April 14th.

Summit IPA firkin at Groveland Tap

In order to celebrate Craig’s birthday, Groveland Tap is having a special 40th birthday party on April 18th including $5 forties (PBR, Bud & St. Ides… MNBeer readers’ favorite beers, no doubt 🙂 ) and more importantly, a firkin of Summit IPA. Tapping is at 5:00. Enjoy!

Edit: One firkin wasn’t enough for a 40th birthday, so they’re adding another… probably something from Bell’s. Drop in and wish GT’s manager Craig a very happy birthday!
