Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

Minneapolis Town Hall update: Pint Club & Anniversary Week

Does anyone have $150 burning a hole and their pocket they’d like to spend on their good friends at MNBeer.com? (Yeah… riiiiight.)

Hey All,
Got some news for you. Just like everything else the cost of raw materials for making beer is sky-rocketing. I regret to say that in the near future we will have to increase our beer prices… slightly. We’ll hold off as long as we can, but it’s coming…

Here is a chance to protect yourself from the price increase. Pint club memberships are now on sale through the end of the month… we will only sell 50.
Benefits for your lifetime membership include:
*Free First Growler
*.$75 off every pint of Town Hall Beer you purchase…even during happy hour! (A couple exceptions)
*Invitation to pint club reception each and every Saturday from 4-5 pm. TH beers are complimentary.
*Further discounts on special Town Hall events
*Invitation to “Members Only” pint club dinners

All this for life… Just $150 (Simple math says that 4 pints per week will pay you back in just 1 year….and that is just on the .$75 discount).

Also check out the attatchment about anniversary week!
Cheers,
Mike

Saturday night party…

Okay, so it’s not your traditional Saturday night in MNBeer-land, but I’m going to share my Saturday night plans because I started this site, and dammit, I can.

Tomorrow night I’ll be working & hanging out at Hoigaard’s 3rd Annual Ski Fashion Party to benefit Children’s Cancer Research Fund. This event has consumed many of my office hours over the past week or so, and I’m glad that it’s finally coming to fruition (not to mention that I’ll get to move all of the silent auction goodies out of my office!). So, if you don’t have better plans and feel like throwing $45 at a good charity, come on down to Hoigaard’s at 7pm on Saturday. The food is by brix bistro & wine bar and there will be winter/ski fashion show, dj, dancing, give-aways and a huge silent auction. If you like ski & winter gear, this is the place my friends… silent auction items ranging from downhill ski packages to lift tickets to a 4-day trip to Moonlight Basin… hell, even an opportunity to brew with Jeff at Flat Earth Brewing Co. for a day. There are some other ways to win cool prizes as well… things like $50 at the Happy Gnome (x2, actually), Great Waters, etc., etc.

Did I mention bonfires and s’mores? 🙂 Now for full disclosure, the beer sponsor isn’t one of local craft breweries… we tried, but this weekend just happens to coincide with GABF, so as you can imagine, most of our Twin Cities friends are there. That being said, it’ll still be a good time. I’ll be busy, but it’s good work for a good cause, so if you don’t already have better plans and feel like throwing down $45, come on down… if not, please stop by about 1am as I will probably need a ride home! 😉

Surly Commercial on MNSpeak.com

The fan-submitted Surly commercial was written up on MNSpeak.com the other day.

Not the kindest words ever, but who cares? I enjoyed it for what it was and give Trav credit for his work.

You can read the comments for yourself… here’s just one:

the commercial is crap, but in a good crap kinda way.

Lake Superior Brewing Oktoberfest

That time of year is upon us again. The three weeks in between summer and winter that we here in Minnesota call fall. With the change in seasons comes a special celebration for the heart and soul called Oktoberfest. Lake Superior Brewing will be hosting an Oktoberfest Saturday October 13 from 3-10 with plenty of Oktoberfest beer as well as the other regular LSB offerings. Located in a tent at the corner parking lot of 27th Ave W and Superior St. we will have traditional German offerings such as soft pretzels and mustard, Oktoberfest beer marinated bratwurst, German potato salad, as well as a bonfire, door prizes, live music, and games. Prost!
