Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

A few Autumn Brew Review photos

I was too busy enjoying good beer, talking to new people and trying to stay dry to take many photos this year, however, here are a few for your viewing pleasure.

Hmmm. This was taken either around 11:50 or 12:50… Quite a thirsty crowd…

Carrie, Kelly, Junior, Cory & Dawn had the perfect stay-dry seating… directly behind the MNBeer/Twin Cities Imbiber table under a loading dock. Cory fit… just barely.

Skypilot and Beachscrat enjoying a little Grand Cru thanks to Twin Cities Imbiber.

If Skypilot has a huge goose-egg on his head, we saw nothing… Todd Haug (Surly) shows his appreciation for Skypilot’s recent review of SurlyFest.

Luke, Cassie and some random drunk guy. Thanks for the beer!

Autumn Brew Review T-shirt Winners…

Congrats to Cory, Joe and Christopher… your shirts will be in the mail soon… you’ll either get a lovely t-shirt from MNBeer or one from our friends at the PedalPub.

Yesterday was truly a blur… I had my first sample at about 11:30am (Coffee Bender… heavy on the coffee… mmm…) and proceeded to touch base with many old and new friends. I met a number of people for the first time and was truly humbled by all of the nice things people had to say about the site. It was a good day… one of jokes and insults and many, many good beers. Many thanks to Laura and the entire Minnesota Craft Brewer’s Guild for putting the event together and putting up with my stupid questions. Thanks to the new MNBeer contributors, the people who filled my tasting glass while I wanted in line for another beer and the people who saved a spot for me near the front of  the line in too many of the “special releases.” Thanks to Jeff for rolling out with some spectacular non-Minnesota beer even with a kid in the hospital. Thanks everyone, really…

I’ll go through the program again later and reflect on a few of my favorites from the day and provide a little feedback on what I thought went well, what I thought didn’t work and where there might be room for improvement. I have a few pictures, too, though the rain kept me from going too crazy. Overall, like many an Autumn Brew Review, I had a great time and look forward to the next big beer event in Minnesota.

Surly makes Metro 100…

The latest issue of Metro magazine gives a nod to two good friends of MNBeer. In addition to placing our friends from Aesthetic Apparatus on the cover, Surly Brewing gets some press as well.

Metro Magazine places Surly Brewing company at #77 in their “Metro 100 – An Essential Guide to Everything.” That’s cool, we always appreciate the pub. However, I got an issue with some of the bit. I did say that “People here were clamoring for a better beer.” However, the way the article flows, it looks like I’m saying Summit Brewing does not make those better beers, and that is simply not the case.

Also, my office is not windowless! I have a 4″x8″ window overlooking the tasting room! And if somebody is gonna say I got Guinness-colored eyes, how about using a domestic beer as a reference, like Bender-colored.

Look for us at Autumn Brew Review…

banners.jpg

Dan from Graphic Source just delivered  the MNBeer and TC Imbiber banners to my office. Despite the photo, they look really good. Come see them in person at Autumn Brew Review on Saturday. I can’t guarantee that we’ll be at the booth all day… in fact I’m sure we’ll be sampling tasty beers much of the day, but you never know…

If you need great banners or other display items, drop Dan a line. Graphic Source does nice work and Dan likes good beer as well. I’m sure we’ll run into him at ABR.
