Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

McCann’s Food and Brewery Update

Things over at McCann’s Food and Brewery in St. Cloud are coming together. In fact, Chris (Laumb, the brewer) has a blog detailing the progress. Notable recent news includes the fact that McCann’s will be brewing all new brews and not recycling any O’Hara’s recipes. As much as I enjoyed some of O’Hara’s beers, I think this helps to establish McCann’s as a totally new place with some great new surprises to come.

The Groveland Tap was packed last night…

Wow… at the last minute, Dawn and I decided to Join Luke and Cassie at Groveland Tap to check out the craziness and have some $1.00 pints of Summit. The normally relaxed Groveland Tap was absolutely packed… almost to the point of being ridiculous… the bar was two people deep and the sidewalk and seating area were barely navigable. Despite the craziness, the Groveland Tap bartenders were slinging pints of Summit like nobody’s business and were likely worn out by the end of the evening. As a bonus, they were pouring Summit’s Oktoberfest last night – the first time I’ve seen it this year.
Did any MNBeer readers make it out to Groveland Tap last night?

Town Hall Update

Here’s a bit of news from Minneapolis Town Hall

This weekend is our annual Bocce Tourney (Sat and Sun).  We still have a couple of spots available…teams of 4 people.  Please come help us dethrone the Corner Bar, a third title in a row could be unbearable.  Town Hall’s team has made vast improvement over last year and is now considered the odds-on favorite.  The new tourney format should keep Town Hall sober so it doesn’t self destruct.

Saturday’s festivities begin with a brunch at 9:30am.  Sunday afternoon we will release Smoked Hefe for $2 (between 1:00 & 2:00pm) and the annual pig roast will begin at 2:30pm.
Keep your calendars open for the week of October 22 thru 27th… Town Hall turns 10 years old on October 24th.  Festivity plans should begin to leak later this month.  Happy hour all week for sure.  Come watch Pete turn grey and grumpy as the week goes on.

Cheers,
Mike

P.S.  We have raspberry infused Scotch Ale currently pouring at the brewery.
