Flat Earth Update

Here’s an update from Jeff and the gang over at Flat Earth Brewing Co.

Wow! What a month we had. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed our beers at A Taste of Minnesota this year. We went through over 200 cases of Belgian Pale Ale and Element 115 in less than 5 days and we look forward to next years’ Taste to serve you even more styles. To top it off we landed on the front page of the Pioneer Press on July 4 (see www.twincities.com/allheadlines/ci_6293341).

Our open house was June 29 and what an awesome time we had. Nearly 500 curious and thirsty beer drinkers passed through our doors. Thanks to everyone who came out for the evening. In case you missed your chance then we will be having another brewery tour this Saturday, July 14 at 1 p.m.

Mark your calendars for two upcoming beer festivals. Saturday, July 21 we will be at the 14th annual Clayton Lion’s Brewfest in Clayton, WI near Turtle Lake. We will also be heading to Madison, WI for the Great Taste of the Midwest on Saturday, August 11. Check our website for upcoming brewery tours in August as well.
Thank you for your continued support.

Cheers!

Town Hall Gigantic Beer Release…

Read on… lots of good stuff at Town Hall Thursday evening. If I can break away from a semi-work related task, I’ll try to drag Dawn down there with me for some goooooood beer. The Belgian Wheat Wine is screaming at me… “Drink me! Drink me!”

Hey Kids,
Happy to announce that some changes are happening! Installed new climate controlled cask lines and we have our under bar draft boxes installed. We best break in all those new lines well……Tomorrow is the day! 5:00 we will release Town Hall Barrel Aged Wee Heavy, Town Hall Barrel Aged Quadruple (this aged in French Oak 18 months), and Town Hall Barrel Aged Ruby Jack (Belgian Wheat Wine) and if that’s not enough…why not release Gouden Carolus Tripel and the one and only Rodenbach Flemmish Red (both guest beers on tap from Belgium). Sorry, no growlers. The weather is going to be great, should make for a wonderful evening!

Thanks all for the continued support!
Cheers,
Mike

P.S. Thunderstorm expected 7/23

New Beer, New Kitchen Hours at Barley John’s

Happy Fourth! Hopefully you’ll be drinking some great craft beer from Minnesota. Here’s some news from Barley John’s… first, a new beer, a Kölsch:

Golden straw color and mildly hopped with German Hallertau, Tettnang and Spalt varieties. A single decoction mashing technique was employed to tame the under modified Pilsner malt used in the recipe, resulting in a malt forward flavor profile. The hallmark of this style is its unique position between an ale and a lager – fermented cooler than an ale but warmer than a lager thereby creating a beer that exhibits characteristics of both beer families. Crisp and refreshing like a lager yet complex and slightly fruity like an ale, this beer is enjoyed in the traditional straight sided Kölsch glass.

Secondly, they’ve expanded their kitchen hours so you all can enjoy their great food:

Monday until 9pm

Tuesday-Thursday until 10pm

Friday and Saturday until 11pm

And please don’t show up today, as they’re closed for the 4th of July!
