Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

MNBeer 2.0

Obviously., it’s here. Surely, there are bugs. The clock is off, and I’m too lazy to wind the thing.. I’m also trying to redirect requests for the atom and rss feeds. Let me know what else I’ve broken.

Update: The feeds and clock seem to be working and redirecting as they should. I still haven’t bothered to look at the site on anything but Firefox and Safari on the Macs at my house, so hopefully there aren’t any Windows-only bugs affecting the site.

I’ll be at Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery tonight if the stars are aligned correctly. My friend is having a birthday event and I’m craving Number 9, Anniversary Ale and cask beer. If you want to buy me a beer, you now know what to order.
Did someone say beer? Yeah? Lest we forget, Barley John’s has two new season, a brown ale and a Belgian Grand Reserve. Mmm.

Town Hall Beer Release

Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery will release “The Gobbler” on Monday, November 6th. The Gobbler is a blueberry pale ale “designed to be a perfect match for your turkey on Thanksgiving.” I’ll buy that.

From 5:00 to 6:00pm Monday, pints of The Gobbler are $2.00.

Straight from Omar at Surly Brewing:

Here’s what you need to know:

2) Growlers of Darkness, Furious and Bender will be available.
3) There will only be 30 growlers of Darkness (limit 1 per person). Don’t
show up at 2pm and cry that you missed out.
4) Darkness $20, Furious $9, Bender $8, plus the growler ($3).
5) By law, we can’t fill growlers from other breweries. So don’t bother
bringing them.

cards. And yes, you can give us more of your money for t-shirts, hats,
sweatshirts and glasses.
7) Beer tasting will be AFTER the tour.

Where is Surly, you ask? Here’s a map from Google. Enjoy.

The New Kid in Town – Flat Earth Brewing Co.

Keep an eye out for the newest kid… er, microbrewery in town, Flat Earth Brewing Co. Construction at their facility is currently taking place and their brewing equipment shoud arrive soon. As with any new upstart, don’t expect the beer right away, but keep your eyes peeled. And when they do arrive, give them all of the love that you’ve been giving our other local breweries and establishments.

Lake Superior Beer Tasting @ Zipps

Head over to Zipp’s sometime between Thursday and Saturday to taste some Minnesota beer from the great (not yet) white north, Lake Superior Brewing.

According to Don, he’ll be there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4-10.

“I’ll bring along some three year old Old Man Winter Warmer for those who ask for it. They usually have some pretty good prices when I do these.”

Sold? I am.

Zipp’s is located at 2618 East Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis.
