Ryan Anderson (that's me!) is the editor & founder of MNBeer. Much has changed since the fall of 2005 and I'm proud to have been a part of it all. Sometime I'll tell you about my grand theory that links craft brewing to punk rock. Just ask.

Minnesota Beer at the New Twins’ Ballpark

The Minnesota Twins are taking suggestions for their new ballpark. Let’s all push the beer issue… good, flavorful Minnesota beer.

Here’s one suggestion from Brian:

You need better tasting beers. Build a microbrewery into the stadium. Create your own Twins beers. Imagine on a warm summer day a quaffing down a light Harmon’s Hefeweizen’s. At least try to contract in some nice brews, maybe from Granite City, or the Town Hall brewery, locally made here in Minnesota!

Thanks to Brian from the Minnesota Homebrewer’s Association listserv for the info.

As Surly as They Want to Be…

This week is a good week to get Surly, with the release of Darkness and another big surprise that will be revealed on Wednesday.

Darkness will be unleashed this week! Check us out at MacKenzies Pub on Friday, October 27th. We will be pouring Darkness and have a cask of Furious. The cask beer will be free! Show up early to Mackenzies to get a ticket for a free glass of cask beer. Darkness will come out of hiding and reveal itself at Surly Bars mid-week.

Lots of Surly excitement is coming. Check back on this web-site on Wendsday afternoon for the the biggest Surly news since we opened.

Town Hall’s Ninth Anniversary

Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery turns nine this week and in celebration, the barrels of beer are being rolled out in grand style. I’m particularly interested in their Belgian IPA, but all of the beers should be tasty. Go early, go often. Enjoy!

P.S. Sunday I would suggest a day of rest!

P.S.S.- We contracted a Minnesota potter to hand make a limited amount of growlers for us. He is a talented craftsman that does all of his firing in a wood fired kiln thus creating a 30hr process for compleation of these pieces. These flip-top stone growlers are signed, numbered, and each a one of a kind. I guess the clay will react to the heat/ashes differently depending on location in the kiln. Very cool stuff! Check him out online.. his name is Bill Gossman. We consider our beer very lucky to be partnered with him. These will be available starting Anniversary Week in VERY limited numbers. They will be part of our new VIP Stone Club. They will guarantee you the opportunity to purchase certain beers via your stone growler that may not be available to the general public, such as Czar Jack. Further details available at the Town Hall.
