Better Beer Society

Perhaps you’ve stumbled upon this initiative already, but if not, you should. The Better Beer Society will be sort of a Better Business Bureau for beer. The Heavy Table has a nice write up today about the effort here.

Nice article. I tend to think that there’s room for both BBS and A Perfect Pint in this market – they reinforce each other with a message about keeping the level of service as well as peoples’ expectations high.

I didnt see any mention of Tallgrass in the article. Will the BBS only be for MN, or is it national? What does he do at Tallgrass?

Thanks guys, and thanks for posting Ryan. I completely agree…there is plenty of room in this market, and anyone who is an advocate for improving the level of service quality in our beer establishments, and helping our beer community grow, is certainly a friend of mine. Agnew especially.

Trav – I am the MN brewery rep for Tallgrass, and BBS is a passion project of mine on the side. We’re in the very early stages, and doing something very special for the MN beer scene. Thanks again for supporting this…it really will take your help to succeed. ~Rob

    Rob-

The blind tastings are a great idea. It’s something we’ve done quite a bit in some of our brew club meetings.

When you remove the preconceptions that come with knowing what the beer is that you’re tasting I think you’re much more open and fair in evaluating.

It was quite an eye-opening experience.

In fact, Rob and I have discussed ways we might be able to work together. The MN beer world is good and only getting better.
