Duck, Duck, Duck Goose Island Events

Wow. Holy shit even. Lots & lots of Goose Island events in Minnesota next week. Goose Island is sending up Tom Korder, brewery innovation manager. He is the brewer who is responsible for our managing their barrel aged brews, sour ales and coming up with any new and exciting Goose Island brews. They are also bringing up Suzanne Wolcott who is Goose Island’s education director. She spent years as a cheese monger and is very informative when it comes to taste training.

Release of Harvestor Ale from Lift Bridge

The Mad Capper Saloon and Eatery will be hosting a release party for, The Harvestor Fresh Hop Ale from Lift Bridge Brewing, Saturday October 8th, 5-8pm.

On September 16, 100+ people gathered at Lift Bridge for their event, Pickin’ and Grinnin’, picking hop cones from 300 lbs of hop bine.

Brewing: We will be brewing our annual “Harvestor” fresh hop ale at the event and the fresh hops you pick will go right into the beer. This beer will then ferment and age for 3-4 weeks before release, at which time you can raise a glass and proudly proclaim that you did that.

The beer is now ready for consumption and full of hop deliciousness!

Where the Wild Beers Are

This isn’t your typical beer festival, it’s a collaborative effort where fans of the funk and bacti-curious people come together to share and celebrate the often rare and certainly unconventional wild and sour ales. These beers have been produced for hundreds of years; but after shriveling to near extinction in the age of pure yeast cultures, they are on the rebound due to artisan brewers and enthusiast imbibers like you.

Registration now open but space is limited! They’re about 2/3 full. Click here to register

Registration required to attend
Date: Saturday October 15, 2011
Time: 11am-3pm, blending seminar begins at 12:30pm
Venue: REPUBLIC at Seven Corners, Minneapolis MN
Cost: Bring sour/wild beer to share and $10 at the door.
* Cost includes sample of Cuvée des Jacobins Rouge on draft, participation in blending seminar and prize drawings.

NOTE: The 3rd annual Brooklyn registration will not open until late Winter 2012
