Boom Island’s Kevin Welch will be at The Four Firkins on Monday from 6-8 to sample his first two beers, Throprock IPA and Silvius Pale Ale. You’ll also be able to purchase both beers that night.Next Wednesday the Groveland Tap is hosting the Harriet Eastside Belgian IPA release party, and will be featuring Harriet beers on draft. Come by, meet the owner and tell him how much you enjoy his beer!
…and the first brewery born in 2012 is… Mankato Brewery. Thursday marks the launch of their first beer, Mankato Original.
Mankato Original (M.O.) is an homage to the traditional top-fermented beers of Cologne, Germany; it is light and refreshing with a crisp bitterness, delicate hop aroma, subtle malt flavor and a hint of fruitiness.
I’m curious to try it – I enjoyed Brewer Mike Miziorko’s last Kölsch-style offering, the first in Summit’s Unchained Series. For now though, it looks like the Mankato area gets first dibs on this one. Below you’ll fine release events and accounts.

This Thursday Rock Bottom releases the latest creation from Assistant Brewer Pete Mack, Smoking Goat Rauchbock, described as, “a German style bock brewed with beechwood smoked malt, the smoked malt balances nicely with the Vienna, Melanoiden and Black malts giving a wonderful malty experience.”
