Wet your whistle and wade into beer history in this extended CrossTalk featuring Summit brewer Eric Harper and food historian Jeffrey Pilcher from 6:00-8:30pm January 31st at the Target Wing Reception Hall of The Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Taste a Tudor-style ale created by Harper and brewed by Summit in honor of the MIA exhibition, “Supper with Shakespeare.” Learn about archaic beer recipes, brewing history, and the resurgence of craft brewing. This is cool… Southern Anoka Community Assistance & Financial One Credit Union are putting on an event called “Hops for Hunger” on Saturday at Uppercut Boxing Gym in NE Minneapolis from 5-8pm. A quick reminder that the first annual Mankato Craft Beer Expo is January 19th, from 2-6pm at Verizon Wireless Center in downtown Mankato. This event is put on by the same fine folks who have brought you the St. Paul Summer Beer Festival and Craft Beer Expos in St. Cloud and Rochester, so you know it’ll be a fun event.
The expo will showcase the offerings of craft breweries here in Minnesota, as well as all over the United States. Attendees to the expo will have the opportunity to sample beers from 40 different craft breweries in a commemorative sampling glass.
In addition to this, they can enjoy educational seminars throughout the day covering subjects such as Food Pairing, Homebrewing, and the History of Brewing in Minnesota. With brewery and distributor representatives on hand to answer questions, attendees will be able to have an enjoyable and educational experience learning about beer, its components and flavors.
Live music, food, various beer related vendors will be available as well.
Next Thursday, January 17th at 7:00pm, Uptown Cafeteria is hosting a four-course beer dinner with Summit Brewer Nate Siats. Each course will be paired with a selected Summit Beer.
