Dinner on the Farm: Badger Hill & Birchwood Cafe

Dinner on the Farm Pro Marshall Paulsen, from the Birchwood Cafe, will be cooking up a feast at Riverbend Farm, about 30 miles west of Minneapolis on the North Fork of the Crow River. Greg and Mary Reynolds produce delicious vegetables using sustainable practices and organic methods and sell all of their produce within 50 miles of the farm. We’ll enjoy locally brewed beer from Badger Hill Brewing Company and a portion of your ticket price will support the Seward Children’s Peace Garden. Dinner starts at 4 pm with a farm tour and lasts until dark. $75. Tickets available here.

Where the Wild Beers Are 2012

Where the Wild Beers Are 2012 is quickly approaching. If I remember correctly, this is their fifth year in Minneapolis. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29th from 11-3pm at Republic in Minneapolis.

This isn’t your typical beer festival, it’s a collaborative effort where fans of the funk and bacti-curious people come together to share and celebrate the often rare and certainly unconventional wild and sour ales. These beers have been produced for hundreds of years; but after shriveling to near extinction in the age of pure yeast cultures, they are on the rebound due to artisan brewers and enthusiast imbibers like you.

Register now. Registration is $10+ one or more bottles of sour/wild/farmhouse beers to share.

For every 750ml of beer contributed, you’ll get 10 drink tickets (approx. 1 drink ticket per 2.5oz contributed, multiple small bottles are fine). They offer extra samples and priority pours for people who are willing to share hard to find bottles. There always is a wide variety of quality beer to sample!

Edible Twin Cities Brewing Tour

Join Edible Twin Cities Magazine on Saturday, Oct. 13 to tour and taste at three local breweries in the heart of the Twin Cities metro area. A coach bus will take you to Flat Earth Brewing in St. Paul, then head to Lift Bridge Brewery in historic Stillwater, and finish off at Harriet Brewing in Minneapolis. Harriet Brewing will have a food truck and a live band at their location to end the day.
