BRAUsing Local Events

Heh heh, we crack ourselves up.  Anywho…dateline, Lucan, home of the Brau Bros.

Hey Everyone,

Just thought I’d take a chance to let everyone know what’s going on at the brewery, and keep everyone up to date. I apologize for not touching base in over a month; it’s been extremely busy at the brewery and we’ve made some big changes.

First, we’ve added some much-needed help. Chance Mitchell has joined us in the brew house. Chance was crazy enough to move to Lucan about a month ago and he has been very helpful in increasing our production. Also, Alex Rank has joined our team as a market rep. Alex is based out of the twin cities, and will help provide a point person for that area. You’ll see Alex out and about at festivals, tastings, and samplings. If you see him, make sure to stop and say hi.

Things have been very busy lately. We have additional fermenters en route from the west coast, scheduled for late July delivery. We recently commissioned a new keg cleaner and filler, and are working on upgrading the bottling line. The building is bursting at the seams, and we are looking for options to expanding our square footage.

On Thursday, July 21st I’ll be speaking at a Brau Bros Beer Dinner at Jackpot Junction near Redwood Falls. I’ve seen the menu, and it looks fantastic. They’ve hosted beer dinners in the past, and they’re fantastic. Seating is limited, and I know there are only a few seats left. For info email me (removed link – check out their webpage) or call Jackpot 1.800.win.cash. It’ll be a blast.

We were hoping to get a late summer seasonal out, however limited capacity in the brew house means we’ll make big plans for Hundred Yard Dash Fresh Hop Ale this fall. The hops are looking terrific, especially considering the late spring and recent storms. It looks like we’re on track for another great hop harvest.

Autumn Brew Review Tickets on Sale Friday! (Don’t Panic!)

Autumn Brew Review has been my gold standard for local beer festivals over the years. This year we celebrate 11 years of great beers on Sept. 17th with a small change to accommodate more people. This year, the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild has decided to split ABR into two sessions, one from 10am – 2pm and another from 3-7pm. Brewers will be splitting beer equally between both sessions, so the biggest advantage of going to the early session is that the early session will have mini bloody mary samples with horseraddish-infused vodka from Referent Vodka and mixers from Lehmann Farms.

tl;dr – Autumn Brew Review tickets go on sale Friday, July 15th at noon.

Historic Grain Belt Brewery grounds, Minneapolis. $30 in advanced, $40 at the door if it doesn’t sell out.

News From Lift Bridge

For those of you that have a habit of grabbing a sixer of Lift Bridge at the liquor store, take note.

Suspension of 6-Pack Bottle Sales
Lift Bridge Fans and Supporters, we have been hit with a bottled beer shortage which will cause us to be out of our bottled beer for a few months. The reason for the suspension of shipments is due to our supplier, Cold Spring Brewing Co who has not been able to produce beer for us. They have decided to prioritize other brands ahead of ours. It certainly is their decision on what to brew and when, however we were caught with extremely short notice.
In response to this situation we are working to purchase and install bottling capabilities at our brewery in Stillwater, MN. We currently produce 100% of our draft beer in Stillwater and have capacity to keep up with our draft account. Today, we are receiving additional fermenters, increasing our capacity by 66%. This will allow us react quicker and not be dependent on a single supplier.
This plan will take several months to complete, but we will have bottles back on shelves later in 2011. It is unfortunate for our distributor partners, bottle retail customers and our loyal customers but we will be back soon and better than ever.
Currently we have a quite a list of new beers planned for later this year. They include an oyster stout, Oktoberfest, the return of Biscotti, and a bourbon barrel aged barley wine.
We appreciate your continued support. Please feel free to stop by to check out the brewery, pick up a growler of fresh beer or join us on a tour. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

But don’t think that means you can’t bring some Lift Bridge beer with you whereever you go. Growler sales at the brewery are Thursdays and Fridays 5-8 pm and Saturdays 2-5 pm.
