A Note From Soon-To-Be-Festive Lucan, MN

Dearest MNBeer Readers,

Please enjoy this breviloquent note from our esteemed brethren in idyllic Lucan.

Hey Everyone,

All kinds of stuff going on here!  BrauFest kicks off tonight, with Beer Dinner at the BrauHaus, Lion’s BBQ at the park, and hopefully some homebrew to pass round the campfire.  I talked to Ken from the BrauHaus last night; he has only 4 or 5 spots left for the beer dinner.  Signup at 507.747.2796 if you’re interested.

Also, the Beer Guys were out to visit us in Lucan!  All I can say is, what terrific ambassadors for beer.  Check it out here: www.beerguystv.com it’s always fun to see someone else’s perspective on the brewery and the town.

We had a couple nice ladies stop out for a tour the other day.  Had we known they were famous writers, we’d have given them the good tour!  http://nanbec.blogspot.com  We really appreciate it when someone’s willing to take a chance and make the drive out to Lucan, often times not knowing what to expect.

Rubus Black, Blackberry Imperial Porter will be on tap at the brewery this weekend!  It checks in at 8.9%ABV, and has just a hint of chocolate and blackberry.  It’s big, thick, malty, and tasty.  Definitely different than anything we’ve done before.  As soon as we get our act together, we’ll bottle it and send it out to the market.  If I have time today, we may have another unreleased beer on Saturday as well.  You have to show up to try it…

Old 56’s battery is struggling to hold a charge.  Be ready to push if you want a ride!

Here’s to a safe and fun weekend!

Dustin

Flat Earth June Update

Here’s the scoop on all that’s going on this month with Flat Earth.

I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, like this coming Winter I hope!

We have partnered with The Twin Cities Jazzfest again this year! Head down to Mears Park in St. Paul June 18th & 19th and grab a pint or three of Hep Cat Blonde Ale or the Cascade Hopped Angry Planet American Pale Ale from one of the 2 draft trailers, while listening to some cool jazz. For more information go to www.hotsummerjazz.com

The St. Paul Summer Beer Festival is on June 20th at Midway Stadium. Last year was a great time and we took home the People’s Choice Award for Sunburst, our apricot-infused Belgian Pale Ale. For tickets and more information go to www.stpaulsummerbeerfest.com

Growler Sales are Monday thru Friday from noon to 630 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 3 p.m.. Beer sampling is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays only, from 3:30 to 6:30.

Our tours are full for this month. We do have some openings for both of our July tours (10th & 24th). You can email for reservations at tour@flatearthbrewing.com.

Cheers!

Fulton June Events

Here’s what we’re up to this month. Be sure to keep an eye on our website and Facebook page, as we add new events all the time.

Tuesday, June 8th: Pizza Luce Downtown is featuring our beers this month, which means $3 pints for you! Luce DT is a great place to grab a slice and a pint before a Twins game, which is exactly what we’ll be doing from 5:00 to 7:00 on the 8th.

Tuesday, June 15th: As you (hopefully) know, patio season is in full swing by now. The Longfellow Grill has one of the best, and what better way to celebrate it than with a Lonely Blonde? Join us for one (or more) from 6:00 to 9:00. And why not bike there? Longfellow is just off the Greenway.

Sunday, June 20th: What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than by taking dad to the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest? Join us and 70+ other breweries for one of the best beer festivals in the Twin Cities. Visit www.saintpaulsummerbeerfest.com for more information and to purchase tickets.

Tuesday, June 29th: We’ll be heading to Cherokee Tavern for a beer dinner. Beer dinners are all great, but they can be dollar–and calorie–intensive affairs. Cherokee is putting together a lighter offering with 3 courses: a Lonely Blonde & fruit/cheese pairing, Sweet Child of Vine matched with a Fulton Vinaigrette salad, and a peach cobbler with a peach-infused Sweet Child of Vine. It’s only $30 per person, tax & tip included, but be sure to call ahead early–there are only 25 slots available.

Other Going-ons in the Fulton world…
In addition to brewing beer, drinking beer, and talking about beer, we have a number of other projects going on–all beer related, of course. One we’re particularly pleased to be a part of is the Randy Shaver Golf Classic. Each year, the Randy Shaver
Cancer Research and Community Fund puts on a golf tournament to raise money for cancer research. In 2009, they awarded over $300,000 in grants. This year, Fulton is the beer sponsor of the golf tournament. It’s a great event for an extremely
important cause. To find out more about how you can help, visit randyshavergolf.com.

We’re also tinkering with a few other things around the garage. There will be some sweet new Fulton apparel available in the next month or so, so be sure to check for it at our website from time to time.

Shhh! We’re also designing our packaging for bottles–a fun project, to be sure, but don’t get too excited just yet, as bottles won’t be available until at least this fall. The people have spoken, and they’ve asked for bottles. We’ve heard the
call, but we appreciate everyone’s patience–it’s a slow process, and believe us when we say nobody is more excited than us to have Fulton available in bottles.

What else might you see in the future? Well, depends on how far into the future you’re looking. We’re working hard right now on finding a brewery space in Minneapolis, revamping our website, brewing more beer…the list goes on and on. In fact, the
list is so long that we’ve had to push back our goal of having Fulton available on the moon until at least 2050. But rest assured–you’ll always be able to grab one on tap in the Twin Cities between now and then.
