Town Hall Brewery Gnomes?

townhall.jpgMaybe Mike is on vacation? Regardless, I found a note signed “The Brewery Gnomes” that mentions that Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery will be releasing Solstice, a light American pale ale (5.3% abv) on Monday, June 16th. They offer a special intro price from 5-6pm. Go celebrate the beginning of summer with the gang at Town Hall!

Fitger’s Brewhouse offers beer delivery

Ok, all you Fitger’s lovers residing in the Twin Cities, don’t get your hopes too high…it’s a Duluth delivery area only. However it’s still noteworthy…here’s the full scoop from the Pioneer Press.

DULUTH — Fitger’s Brewhouse in Duluth is updating the old concept of the milkman for beer drinkers. The brewpub says it’s the first in Minnesota to offer home delivery of growlers — half-gallon jugs of fresh beer. The pub plans weekly and daily routes through Duluth.

Brewmaster Dave Hoops says the company will drop off the beer and take the empties away, sort of like and old-time milkman.

The growlers are $14 each, or $11 for a replacement. There’s a special introductory charge of $1 per delivery, but Hoops says with today’s gas prices that will go up.

The pub slowly began the service last month. It takes orders online or by phone. Buyers are required to show identification upon delivery.

The pub guarantees delivery of growlers within 24 hours of an order, although immediate delivery is possible when a driver is available.

Strib Article on Hop Shortage

In case you’re not a reader of the Star Tribune or in case you generally just like to look at the pictures and read the comics in the paper (like me), let me point you to an article in today’s Strib about the impact that the hop shortage is having on local brewers.  For anyone who has paid attention to this over the past months, there really isn’t anything new to report.  However, Chao Xiong, the reporter, does a good job in addressing the impact locally.

Town Hall Beer Release: Milk Porter & 1800 IPA

townhall.jpgNew beers on Monday at Town Hall. Incidentally, I stopped by last night and they had some choice selections – Mango Mama, Evolution, Hefeweizen. Lots of good stout.

Looks like Monday 6/2 will we a huge day at Town Hall Brewery. Provided you are thirsty this weekend it looks like we will be releasing your favorite 1800 English IPA (6.3lbs hops per barrel) and the newest kid on the block our Milk Porter- on nitro. Nitro makes fast/mass quantities very difficult so Monday we will only be offering intro price for the 1800 IPA. Don’t worry the Milk Porter will still be on happy hour. Why a Milk Porter rather than a Milk Stout?? Wait until you taste how smooth and enjoyable this stuff is….you’ll understand. FYI keep your heads up for the upcoming Dark Chocolate Milk Porter and the Lingonberry Milk Porter….should be ready in about 3 weeks.
Wow- more tanks equals more fun!
Cheers

Beer in Mpls St. Paul magazine

The people of the Star Trib and Mpls St. Paul magazine must have been doing some drinking lately and I mean that in a very complimentary way. As Ryan posted, the local microbrews were recognized in Thursday’s Taste section (with a nice color photo of Flat Earth’s bottles on the front page) and this month’s Mpls St. Paul magazine recognized two other local favorites. Barley John’s Brew Pub got picked as one of the top places to dine al fresco and Buster’s on 28th received a nice review in the Dining Out section. It’s nice to see some places getting recognized for making good beer readily available, whether they are brewing it or serving it.
