Toast to Michael Jackson at Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery

Hey All,
This coming Sunday eve 9/30 we would like to invite you to use the Town Hall Brewery as a meeting point for the national toast remembering the life of writer “The Beer Hunter”.

Michael Jackson, the English writer who taught millions that beer is “a noble and complex drink,” died in London on August 30, 2007. If you know his writing, you’ll understand what a loss this is to the beer world. If you’re now enjoying a range of diverse, beautifully-made beers, you owe him your thanks. Come raise a glass to his
memory as we participate in the national toast in Michael’s honor Sunday @8:00 pm.

Sunday we will begin our “Happy Hour” one hour earlier @ 7:00pm.

Cheers,
Mike

The scoop on All American Grill & Brewhouse

Here’s some further information straight from the source on All American Grill & Brewhouse. All American Grill and Brewhouse was founded by Jon LaPlant. Jon’s father’s ran Pizza America, a take and bake pizza shop. About four years ago, the shop was condemned by MNDOT to make a road into Buffalo and the plan to start All American Grill & Brewpub came as a result.

They relocated to Waverly, MN and have built a new building. According to Jon, he has beeninvolved with everything in the building from the silt fencing to the network. Jon hired a cook who started the Crostini Grille in Monticello and has been working with Tod Fyten (Mantorville Brewing) as a consultant.

The brewery came from the now-defunct Harwell’s Steakhouse & Brewery in Shakopee. Jon Crist, who was the brewmaster at Harwell’s, is lined up to brew. It’s an extract system and of course Jon knows it well. The initial plans for beers include a light lager and a red ale.

We’ll share more information as it becomes available!

This should make the ABR beer nerds sweat…

Okay, breathe in deeply… hold it… exhale slowly…

Friends (nerds?) in beer, here’s a first, likely thanks to our continued pleading over the past few years, here’s the Autumn Brew Review Program for 2007. Colin finished the program early this year so all of you can geek out and enjoy the information early.

Don’t forget, MNBeer and Twin Cities Imbiber will be sharing a table at Autumn Brew Review. MNBeer will have a little swag and a sign-up box for our new e-letter with a chance to win some t-shirts. Twin Cities Imbiber will have a special barrel-aged import beer for your tasting enjoyment. Jeff’s fairly sure that it’s never been poured in Minnesota. It’s not on the program, but I’m fairly sure you’ll enjoy it.

Enjoy the program… and no, I don’t know what Surly “Dahmer” is right now Dahmer is a smoked Baltic porter… hmm…
