Furious Ice Cream

I’m a skeptic, but I’ll buy some and report back… yes, Pumphouse Creamery has a Surly Furious variety of ice cream. I’ve yet to be convinced that a Guinness float is something I’d enjoy, but perhaps a kick of hops and the notion that I’d be supporting two local businesses intrigues me.

Just in time for the hot weather, Surly beer now available in ice cream form. Pumphouse Creamery, located at 4754 Chicago Ave S, is making ice cream with Furious beer. Barb, owner of Pumphouse, says she made ice cream with both bender and furious and customers really loved the furious ice cream. She says that the hops really come out in the ice cream. Yum!

Arborfest Photos?

Does anyone have any photos from Arborfest? Jim needs a good shot or two for Great Lakes Brewing News, so if you have some good photos, let me know asap (ryan AT mnbeer.com) and I’ll get you in contact with one another.

Thanks!

Burrito Union Grand Opening

Tuesday, May 1st is the grand opening celebration for Burrito Union in Duluth. They’ll have happy hour pricing on beer all day, records spinning and $1 from each burrito (as well as non-perishable food donations) goes to the Union Gospel Mission. Beer? By Fitger’s, of course.

[Edit: I’m a dolt. I wrote “Fitger’s Complex” earlier, but Burrito Union is located at 1332 E. 4th St., whereas the Brewhouse is located at 600 E. Superior St. Doh.]

The return of Ommegang and Rodenbach, and New Belgium chooses a distributor.

The beers of Ommegang and Rodenbach (Classic and Grand Cru) are now available again in Minnesota thanks to Hohensteins Dist. and Duvel USA. Both will be be available in bottles as well as on draft at your regular quality retailers. Yum.
Also, it appears that New Belgium has curiously chosen JJ Taylor / East Side Dist. (Miller) to bring in it’s 22oz bombers of Fat Tire. Doesn’t appear that any of their other labels will be here, at least in the beginning.
