Yes, thirty, three-oh, dirty thirty… she thinks she’s old. I’ve assured her that she has nothing on some of you old farts that read MNBeer. 😛 To keep this vaguely topical, we will be having a food and beer at the Blue Nile tonight!

Hey All,
We have an official beer release Monday 4/2. Stop by on your way to the Twins game for a glass of our “Ballpark Beer”. Many of your have requested a session pale ale…this is it. Low alcohol, evident but not overpowering hops, light in body, and hey let’s face it the 2007 Twins season opens April 2- you have to drink a Ballpark Beer to support your team! (5-6pm just $2)Sat. April 7 is “Roll out the barrel”
Many moons ago this date marks when prohibition (for beer) was repealed. So we figure it is a good day to roll out the barrel aged beer. We will release a keg of Wine Barrel Aged Saison at 12 noon. Stop in and have a glass before it is gone. Also early afternoon we will feature a blugrass jam back in the lounge with the Town Hall Stompers. April 7 should be a great day!Last news-
Our Jane is leaving. She has been behind the bar serving all you weary travelers for years. Now she is about to embark on a journey of her own-
Her last shift will be Sat. April 28 and there will be a “Goodbye Party” May 6 (details to follow). Jane wanted you all to know that she is finishing her PHD in couseling psycology and this summer will study for the exam that will grant her licensure. She currently is working for a mental health agency and will be in private practice soon. She wants you all to know she will miss each and every one of youCheers

I saw this in the April issue of Minnesota Monthly and thought I’d share. It’s always good to see the Minnesota breweries and brewpubs get some press. Though I don’t agree with all of their beer choices (i.e. I would have listed Summit Scandia rather then their hefe), there is definitely some good information. Unfortunately, three things stand out in the article that just don’t work for me:
1. Where is Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery? Every other brewpub in the Twin Cities was mentioned and strangely enough, one of the most well-regarded brewpubs in the city gets no mention.
2. Though they’re brand-spankin’ new, it would have been nice to see St. Paul’s Flat Earth Brewing included.
3. Amstel light sticks out like a sore thumb. All of the other beers/breweries/brewpubs that are mentioned are located in Minnesota – and are in alphabetical order. …and then Amstel Light shows up. 🙂 Not surprisingly, they have a full-page ad within the same section.
We’ve talked about having a MNBeer gathering in the past, but things just haven’t come together… until now, of course. So here’s the deal… since many of you loyal MNBeeries are also involved with BeerAdvocate to one extent or another (I’m actually the MN & Mpls./St. Paul guide), we’re going to “borrow” the Beer Advocate Spring Thaw get-together. So… meet up with other MNBeer geeks and Beer Advocate beer nerds at the Blue Nile in Minneapolis on April 7th around 7pm.
2027 Franklin Ave. E., Minneapolis
Incidentally, April 6th is my birthday, so I’ll gladly allow you to buy me a beer!
That could get me in trouble…
