It’s been a while since we’ve added new writers to the ranks of MNBeer. As the community grows and new breweries spring up, we’re looking for new blood to help cover all of the great beer news in Minnesota. So if you think you’re up for the task and are committed to helping out with at least a few stories and/or features a week, we’d love to have you join our ranks.
You don’t need to be an English major, but some mastery of the language always helps. Tact, a sense of humor and a love of beer are nice, too. Perks include free entry to beer fests, free beer from time to time and other goodies.

In case you missed it earlier, on 6-12-12, the folks from 612Brew announced that they’ve signed a lease for property at the corner of Broadway & Central in Northeast Minneapolis. After years of planning, things are moving forward. The gang plans to have a brewery & taproom, 15 barrel brewhouse and a focus upon sessionable beers. Come down to Nomad World Pub Friday, June 15th for the newest episode of Brewing TV featuring Tallgrass Brewing Company on the big screen and some awesome beer.
The event goes from 5-7 p.m. with the BTV episode playing at 6 p.m. Following the episode screening, Tallgrass and Brewing TV will raffle off a Deluxe Brewing Starter Kit from Northern Brewer including one of the new Tallgrass Pro Series recipe kits. Also up for grabs – four tickets to the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest (Saturday, June 16th at Minnesota State Fairgrounds).
So what’s up with the special beer? First up, an exclusive 1/6 bbl of soon-to-be LIMITED batch of Tallgrass Brewing Company’s “Wild Plum Farmhouse Ale.” Get there early! In addition, TBC is hooking up a firkin of “Critic-ALE” — Buffalo Sweat with 1 oz of Whole leaf Mt Hood, 2 oz of Cocoa Nibs from Ghana, and .5 oz of Sidama Ardi coffee beans, and primed with brown sugar.

This Friday, starting at 3:30 Blackbird Cafe will be featuring 3 specialty beers from New Holland Brewing Company. They’ll pouring Black Hatter Black IPA, Four Witches Black Saison & Black Tulip Trippel Ale. Come out and try them all!
