Flat Earth August Update

Greetings,

There is just a hint of fall in the air and we switching from summer brews and in to our autumn seasonal brews. Look for our Bermuda Triangle Tripel to be released next week on draft and in growlers. This Belgian style beer is made pilsner malt, noble hops, candi sugar and orange blossom honey. An easy drinking beer and at over 9% alcohol you could quickly find yourself lost in The Triangle.

Come join us on Monday the 15th, we will be at The Bulldog in Lowertown for the official keg tapping party for Bermuda Triangle Tripel starting at 5 p.m. Growlers of Tripel will be available on Tuesday the 16th at the brewery starting at noon. We added another special event for next week too. Come down to The Groveland Tap for a glass of Tripel from the only firkin of it from this year’s batch on Thursday the 18th starting at 5 p.m.

Growler sales at the brewery are from noon to 6:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m.

Tickets are still available for Autumn Beer Review at the historic Grain Belt Brewery in Minneapolis. Go to www.mncraftbrew.org/festivals/abr for more ticket information.

Our tours fill up fast! If you would like to get a tour of the brewery go to www.flatearthbrewing.com/news.php to check available dates and you’re your reservations.

Here’s to a great end of the summer!

Cheers!

Brewing TV #42: King’s Coolship

We have to admit this episode of Brewing TV is for the hardcore homebrew geeks – especially the yeast junkies in the house. Northern Brewer foot soldier Jeremy King is back in the building with another yeast experiment. This time, he’s trying to wrangle wild yeast out of his neighborhood for possible commercial production. We’ve got wild yeast, fire, fermented fish and cool microscopes. What else do you need?

Does BeerAdvocate have the Hots for Omar?

“Yeah, BA mag is about to look a whole lot sexier; inside and out.”

Of course they seem to be referring to their move using a perfect bound binding for the magazine and some new columns, but whatever. One of or Minnesota breweries is represented on the cover along with a metric shit-ton of Furious cans. Color me impressed… or at least thirsty!

Do beer bars still get free copies of the magazine? I haven’t seen it in ages and don’t subscribe.

Bottle Condition Beer Thursdays at Rock Bottom

For the month of August, Rock Bottom will be offering their 750 ml bottle conditioned beers at just $7. Currently featured: Rye Saison, Chardonnay Aged Fantome Wheat, Chardonnay Belgian Tripel, and Pinot Noir Aged Modern Monk Dubbel. All beers are hand bottled and naturally fermented in the brewery.

You’re making us thirsty Mr. McKenzie!

Heritage Thursday Tasting: LOF

Read on and sample some new Lips of Faith beers at Heritage Thursday.

For this weeks Thursday tasting (11th), we’re excited to dig into the 2 latest New Belgium Lips of Faith releases.  We just received Kick, a slightly tart, pumpkin cranberry ale made in collaboration with Elysian Brewing in Seattle. We will also be pouring Clutch, a sour stout made with the guidance of the musical group of the same name. And you’ll be able to try their current 6 pack summer seasonal, Somersault Ale. Our Thursday tastings run from 5-7PM.

And since we’re on a New Belgium kick (get it…?…sorry…), we’ll make our Bomber of the Week their tasty Grand Cru Abbey, which will be 20% off this week only.
