Mead!

Skypilot sent us a reminder that J. Bird Winery’s Mead Booth will be open for business on Saturdays in May. Though I’m far from an expert, I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying their mead and liked what I was drinking. Check them out…

Reminder: Four Firkins liquor license meeting tonight

Yes, tonight. The St. Louis Park City Council is holding a public hearing to approve the liquor license for The Four Firkins. If you live in St. Louis Park, or you just want to come out and support Jason Alvey and his endeavour. The SLP City Council meets at 5005 Minnetonka Blvd., in St. Louis Park. Please plan to arrive by 7:20 pm. If you wish to speak, fill out a “blue card.”

Lakemaid Beer

Have I mentioned this yet? Perhaps not. In any case, Schell’s and Rapala have teamed up to co-brand a beer for the fishing opener, Lakemaid Beer. Here’s a piece about the beer in the New Ulm Journal. Check out the Lakemaid website as well. Definitely a bit campy, but funny as well.

“Half woman and half walleye,  every sportsman’s dream come true…”

If that’s not enough for you, you can meet the 12 lakemaids, like Miss Northern, Miss Sunfish, etc.

Surly at Paddle Fest

Surly Brewing is once again sponsoring an extreme sports festival up in Sandstone, MN. The 2nd Annual Kettle River Paddlefest is happening next weekend, May 2, 3 and 4. Granted, the event is more about white water river activities, but I for one am as much looking forward to the evening activities at the Gas Light Bar as I am the ones on the water.

For full disclosure, I brew and drink with Tony, one of the event organizers. Don’t let that fact keep you away.
