Getting Surly at Winterfest.

As the temperatures drop and the snow threatens to fly, we’re reminded that in just two short months, Minnesota’s longest-running all-local beer festival will be under way. Will you be there? You’ve got two options.

First, the Seasonal Six Pack program has returned. $300+ ticketing fees gets you a pair of tickets for all three Guild festivals – Winterfest, All Pints North and Autumn Brew Review. Buy your tickets once and forget about camping out in front of the computer for the rest of the year.

Seasonal Six Pack Tickets go on sale on Monday, December 2nd at noon! Tickets are limited.

Second, if you’re more inclined to buy said tickets ala carte, fire up your clicking fingers and get ready to smack the appropriate keys on Monday, December 16th at noon.

Brau Brothers 100 Yard Dash Coming Soon

100yarddashFinally! Our friends at Brau Brothers are making their fresh hop beer, 100 Yard Dash available to the drinking public on Monday, December 2nd. Named for the short distance between hop bines and their brew kettle at the old brewery in Lucan, this beer has traditionally been bursting with hop flavor and aroma with hops straight from Brau Brothers hop yard. I’m definitely looking forward to drinking some of this soon.

…wait, I’m looking forward to drinking a beer? Who woulda’ thunk?

Chop & Brew #15: Making Pie From Scratch

This episode of Chop & Brew is obviously more chop than brew, but with the holidays coming up quickly – what better topic for the homebrewing/cooking webshow to feature than making homemade pie from scratch. Elsa Walton and her mom come from a long line of amazing pie makers. In this episode, the ladies reveal some of their family’s secret tips and techniques for making a perfect pie crust and filling from scratch. Eat it for desert, eat it for breakfast; forget the cake, it’s Pie Time! [Spoiler alert: there’s even some similarities between pie-making and brewing beer. You’ll see.]
