An update from Flat Earth Brewing Company

Here’s an update from our friends across the river (well… technically some of us live on that side of the river, but whatever…) at Flat Earth Brewing Company.

Greetings fellow Flat Earther’s,
Zed said he’s not hosting an intergalactic kegger. But, we are! Join us at Stub and Herb’s, Minneapolis on Halloween night for the inaugural Flat Earth Intergalactic Kegger! Music! Beer! Prizes! Check our website for the scary details coming soon!
Due to the outrageously positive response and feedback we decided to brew Cygnus X-1 year round which will shore up our regularly scheduled line-up of brews. Look for more of Cygnus X-1 sometime in November along with our other brews (Flat Earth Belgian Pale, Element 115 and Angry Planet) to be in bottles coming soon.

The next tour of the brewery will be Saturday October 20th at 5 p.m.

We’ve got another busy month of special appearances in addition to our Intergalactic kegger at Stub & Herb’s. On the 13th we will be at Sally’s Saloon and Eatery, Minneapolis for Midwestfest. A fundraiser held by the Twin Cities chapter of the Rotaract Club dedicated to community service here and around the world. Our beer will be on tap and we will have some swag and other cool stuff on silent auction. Come down for some great beer for an awesome cause. You can even bid on “brewer for a day” with Jeff the brewer. See tcrotaract.org for more event information.
Starting on the 15th, Flat Earth will be the beer of the week at Buster’s on 28th, one of South Minneapolis’ newest neighborhood hangs. Head down to Buster’s and get special pricing on Angry Planet.
Cathie and I will be heading to Denver October 11 for the Great American Beer Festival, the largest beer festival in the Nation. We are very excited to go and taste great beers from around the country and go head to head with other breweries and brewpubs in tasting competition. Wish us luck! If you are heading out stop by our booth and say “Hi!”

Cheers!

Mark your calendars for Darkness at the Blue Nile

Here’s the official word from Al at the Blue Nile… Surly Darkness release party on October 30th…

Yes, it’s still over 3 weeks away, but set your calendar to Tuesday the 30th for the official release party at the Blue Nile. Come one, come all, but don’t drink it all in one night! I may have some other special things going on, so I’ll post this event once that’s decided.
Let’s say 7pm.

There’s an excellent poster for Darkness by Adam Turman, who did that last Surly “thank you” poster. I’ll put up a link once I see it on either Surly’s or Adam’s website. He did a great job, even without any cleavage…

To give back to the community that has been so good to us, this year we are helping out with “Coats for Kids”. This is a branch of the Salvation Army that runs a clothing drive to benefit area youth. This year they have hopes of collecting 10,000 coats to distribute to local children in need. Start bringing in your coats today…….here to Town Hall Brewery. Bring in new or gently used children’s coats….please wash them first…..we will get them to the Salvation Army.

Also, to raise more money for the Salvation Army and Coats for Kids we will feature a Silent Auction during our anniversary week. Come and check out all the goods donated by fine area companies and bid on some of
your favorites. Winners announced Sat. 10/27. Bid a bit extra it’s ok…it is all going to charity!

More details will follow.
Cheers,
Mike

A few Autumn Brew Review photos

I was too busy enjoying good beer, talking to new people and trying to stay dry to take many photos this year, however, here are a few for your viewing pleasure.

Hmmm. This was taken either around 11:50 or 12:50… Quite a thirsty crowd…

abr2.jpg

Carrie, Kelly, Junior, Cory & Dawn had the perfect stay-dry seating… directly behind the MNBeer/Twin Cities Imbiber table under a loading dock. Cory fit… just barely.

Skypilot and Beachscrat enjoying a little Grand Cru thanks to Twin Cities Imbiber.

If Skypilot has a huge goose-egg on his head, we saw nothing… Todd Haug (Surly) shows his appreciation for Skypilot’s recent review of SurlyFest.

Luke, Cassie and some random drunk guy. Thanks for the beer!

Summit wants you

Summit is looking for more enthusiastic fans to become volunteer tour guides! These guides lead our free Saturday public tours, and have a great time telling the Summit story, showing off the beautiful brewery, and pouring samples for the masses. If this sounds like you, please email your letter of interest to info@summitbrewing.com with “Tour Guide” in the subject line. Cheers!
