We’re Floored Here in the Minnie-Apple

Needless to say, I think we’re all in shock here in Minneapolis and the surrounding area after I-35W collapsed. It’s all pretty surreal and thus far, I don’t know anyone involved. 35W isn’t part of my commute to work (I bike through St. Louis Park), but I’ve crossed that bridge more times than I cancount to visit Minneapolis Town Hall and Barley John’s, among other places. Needless to say, our thoughts are with all of those involved in any way, shape or form.

I haven’t written any e-mail since I left work yesterday afternoon. It would be great if MNBeer contributors, readers and other beer geeks could check in with a comment.

Thanks for the post Ryan. I too rarely drive on that segment of 35, however, I bike underneath it at least once a week. Makes you count your blessings, eh?

  2. Fortunately, that bridge is not part of my work commute. But I have crossed that bridge many times.

The day before the collapse, a friend of ours was stuck on the bridge in evening rush hour traffic as he made his way to Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery to meet us for drinks and dinner. Had the bridge collapsed on Tuesday, I might be grieving for a friend today.

My heart goes out to everyone hurt in this tragedy.
