Town Hall Release (s?)

Patio season is here and Town Hall has a great one so get on over there, drink lots, and we’ll be rewarded with not one, but TWO releases next week!

Hey All,
Great turn out for Maibock 2009. Some of you may have noticed a guy on a ladder with a camera. That was Terrence Fogarty, a Minnesota artist that we commissioned to do a limited edition print of the event. Those of you that know his stuff realize how talented he is….can’t wait to see the outcome. We will have a limited number of the prints available at some point. I will keep you updated.
This coming Monday 5/10 we will release our Krystal Weiss. Made in a similar way to Hefeweizen, but this is filtered to a brilliant clarity. A beer style that is most commonly affiliated with the Austrian people.
If you are really good and drink a ton of beer this week, we will also release our Cherry Ale. This is a fun beer made with two yeasts and tart cherries. Yep growlers of each will be available.
Cheers!
Mike

Also- A big welcome to all the new pint club members. I had the pleasure of meeting a few of you this weekend, seems like another fine group!

That Blueberry Ale Must Be Da Bomb!

According to the Star Tribune, Granite City’s stock shot through the roof.

Eatery’s stock suddenly hotter than dollar beer
The ticker for St. Cloud-based restaurant chain Granite City Food and Brewery, ran up 205 percent.
Last update: May 5, 2009 – 10:16 PM

A frenzied shout from a blogger was all that precipitated the largest Minnesota stock runup in weeks on Monday: “gcfb running like crazy!!!”

That would be GCFB, the ticker for St. Cloud-based restaurant chain Granite City Food and Brewery, which has 26 restaurants in 11 states. And on Monday, run it did — up 205 percent.

The surge, noticed by almost no one until it was too late, came amid no news, no filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission and no other obvious explanation. A rogue wave, apparently.

Called for a comment, a company official said the restaurant has issued no press releases or public comments. And, due to SEC rules, company officials don’t expect to say anything until earnings come out next Monday.

Shares opened Monday near their lowest price in seven years: 19 cents. A year ago it traded at $2.50. Two years ago at $6.

Then something triggered the run. Speculators? The phase of the moon? A harmonic convergence? By the end of the day, GCFB was trading at 58 cents. It closed Tuesday at 61 cents.

Is the company making a comeback? Tune in on earnings day, May 11.

According to the update made to their website today, Great Waters has put Sturm Und Drang, their Maibock, on tap. Most of the beers they produce are ales, so this is a rare lager for them. Described as, “strong and malty with a beautiful amber hue,” this beer weighs in at 18 IBUs and 7.0% ABV.

Lift Bridge Increasing Production of Farm Girl

Thanks to the good folks over at the Heavy Table for alerting me to this news!

Lift Bridge Brewery has entered a relationship with Point Brewery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on production of our Farm Girl Saison®. This will allow us to produce larger batches of Farm Girl Saison® and to begin bottle production in June 2009. We will continue our brewing relationship with the good people at Flat Earth Brewing Company in St. Paul, MN. This move will allow our brew team more time to concentrate on our mission of creating new tasty brews and working on bringing brewing back to Stillwater, MN.
