Here’s a nice MPR piece on St. Paul’s Last City Brewing, a start-up that hopes to launch in about a year with a brewery and taproom.

Last City Brewing Co. is a nod to the 19th century, when St. Paul was known as “the last city of the East.” With breweries like Fulton, Boom Island, Indeed, Dangerous Man and Harriet entering the market in Minneapolis — the so-called first city of the West — DeFoe is determined to remedy the mismatch.

Craft Beer & Baseball Festival

The St. Paul Saints are hosting their inaugural Craft Beer and Baseball Festival at Midway Stadium on Saturday, June 9th from 4:00 – 7:30pm. The event will feature 30+ Minnesota craft beers from Boom Island, Flat Earth, Summit, Vine Park, Granite City, Brau Brothers, Lift Bridge, Mankato, Big Wood and others.

Tickets are $35 and include: a reserved seat in the outfield, tasting glass and beer samples. The Saints are playing the Sioux Falls Pheasants that evening.

Update: Weekend Events w/ Stone’s Greg Koch at Republic and G-Allen’s

…a quick update to one of the events with Stone Brewing Co. CEO & co-founder Greg Koch – Sunday’s event has been moved to G-Allen’s in Sartell, MN. Same time, same beers same GregFace… new venue. No change to tonight’s event at Republic.

Greg will be at Republic on Friday, May 25  from 7-8:30pm, and of course the Stone beers will be flowing: Arrogant Bastard Ale, along with several special releases: Double Dry Hopped Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers,  Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine.

On Sunday, May 27th from 8-9:30pm, the St. Cloud area gets a taste of Stone at G-Allen’s in Sartell. Stone beers on tap that evening include: Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Stone IPA, Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, and Stone Ruination IPA.

Countdown to St. Paul Summer Beer Fest with Third Street Brewhouse at Stanley’s

Thursday promises to be a fun night of beer at Stanley’s NE. The crew from Third Street Brewhouse in Cold Spring will be on hand to sample their first three beers (a black IPA, a cream ale and a brown ale), which should hit shelves and draft lines in July. With a team that includes Horace Cunningham (formerly of Summit Brewing and Terrapin) as well as Bob McKenzie (Sherlock’s Home, Granite City) and Chris Laumb (O’Hara’s, McCann’s). St. Paul Summer Beer Fest “luminaries” will also be on hand and giving away tickets every half hour. Good times. 5-7pm.
