Finally! Our friends at Brau Brothers are making their fresh hop beer, 100 Yard Dash available to the drinking public on Monday, December 2nd. Named for the short distance between hop bines and their brew kettle at the old brewery in Lucan, this beer has traditionally been bursting with hop flavor and aroma with hops straight from Brau Brothers hop yard. I’m definitely looking forward to drinking some of this soon.

Throughout the day, come by for concerts from Mill City Hot Club & Joel Shapira. Bring in your cash donations to add to the Movember Foundation general fund. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase all day leading up to the 9:00 pm Awards Ceremony (Entrants do not need to be present to win).
Movember Gala Partés are exhibitions of nature’s finest bounty; the moustache. Held around the US and the world, the infamous costume party extravaganzas offer Mo Bros and Mo Sistas the opportunity to come together to showcase their hairy achievement and celebrate a month of hard work and dedication. It’s also our chance to say thank you to the Mo Community for their collective fundraising and awareness efforts.

Doors for the Gala Parté open at 7:00 PM CDT with tickets available for $10. Proceeds going to Movember! Live Jazz Combo from 7-9pm.

Ultimate Mo – A Mo Bro judged purely on the intricate grooming and styling of his Mo. A good outfit helps too!
Lame Mo – An encouragement award given to our “Facial Folically Challenged” Brethren.

Miss Movember – The Mo Sista judged to have the best costume and full of Movember spirit.

Following the Mo Awards at 9:00 PM, rock out to the musical styling’s of Saint Anyway and TBD.
Drinks will be tap room prices and food will be available for purchase at the venue via Cajun 2 Geaux food truck.
Parking is available in massive parking lot to the Southside of the brewery. Venue is also conveniently located on the Metro Transit 7 Bus Line and a block from the Lake Street Light Rail stop.

We dug up some information about the second beer in Summit Brewing Co.’s Union Series back in August. Now that we inch closer to an official release, we’re happy to share some more details.
First and foremost, you’ll start to see this beer the week of November 18th.
The recipe is based on an 1896 recipe from the recipe archives of a brewery in the Irish city of Cork. At 70 IBUs and 8.5% ABV, this beer should be nice, warming stout, perfect for the winter months. The name comes from Cork’s reputation as “The Rebel County” for its prominent role in the Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War.

Congrats to our friends at Excelsior Brewing Company! Like a number of other local brewers, they’ve found themselves running out of space and tanks and need to expand. Thanks to thirsty craft beer fans like yourselves, Excelsior will acquire 6000 s/f of adjacent space for their brewery, add 7- 40 bbl fermentation tanks and two 40 bbl conditioning tanks, bringing their capacity to about 8500 bbl per year. Plans also include an updated taproom in the old Petunia’s space on 3rd Street and a bottling line!
