Brau Update!

For those of you not on Brau Bros.‘ e-mail distribution, below is a brief update (including a reminder about BrauFest) from Dustin.  There’s also a chance to triple Lucan’s population and stimulate it’s contribution to the global Gross Domestic Product.  Huh?  BrauFest you non-Kensian-oriented beer nerds!  Save the dates (June 5 and 6).

Hey Everyone,

Hops are up and we’re racing to get the trellises strung for the year.  The plants themselves look terrific and we couldn’t be happier with their success so far.  We will be installing a drip emitter system to ensure that they are properly watered all year long.  Also, the barley patch was planted Friday and with the rain we got over the last 24 hours, it couldn’t have been planned better.  I’ve included pics of Dave planting the barley and Mary stringing twine.

June 5-6 is BrauFest, Lucan’s newest city-wide festival!   All across town, there will be events and we’ll be joining in the fun.  Details will follow, however I do know that we will be featuring a new release as well as casks.  Also, I’m hoping to have on-premise camping available so drive down for the party!!  Homebrewers, should we get together and sample by campfire Friday night?  Save the date, we’re coordinating with other local businesses to finalize the events.

In response to several requests, Scotch Ale and Sheephead will be heading to Iowa shortly.  I believe 12 pack samplers will also be in Iowa very shortly.

This may be a repeat, but you can now find Brau Bros in the eastern and southeastern portion of South Dakota, including Brookings and Sioux Falls!  I was there for the Beer Wars movie and a terrific afterparty at Monk’s in Sioux Falls. http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/blogs/brew/?p=1072 Tim Hynds from Sioux City breaks it down for us, thanks Tim!  If you can’t find it at your favorite retailer, just ask.  We’ll get it there.

It’s been a busy winter and spring; we’re having a hard time keeping our cooler stocked!  A huge thank you to everyone for supporting Brau Bros, and drinking local beer.  2009 has started strong and we look forward to a big year!

Make sure you plan your trip to Lucan this summer to see the brewery and hopyard, and maybe even have a pint!

Take care,

Dustin
